Depending where the room is you can hear the traffic going past in the evening & mornings but overall alovely stay. "My wife and I stayed for three nights at Bartles Lodge in August 2026. We were warmly welcomed by proprieters upon arrival. The premises were clean and comfortable, we opted for a continental breakfast and the selection offered was excellent. We ate two evening meals which were hot and tasty and well presented. "This was my first time staying at a Holiday Inn Express. We’ve usually been “brand loyal” to a certain purple‑themed chain, but I have to say I was genuinely impressed. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable, and nothing seemed too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent and really enjoyable. We also had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant on Friday. While the food was nice and tasty, I did feel the price was a little high — just over £65 for the three of us, and our 17‑year‑old eats very little. Even the server double‑checked the total twice, which made me think it wasn’t just me. I appreciate that prices are what they are these days, but it did stand out. Room and beds were extremely comfortable, Ability to turn off and control the temperature of the aircon was appreciated. Unlike some other Hotel chains that fact that there was actually plug sockets next to each side of the bed was really appreciated. I agree with a previous review the parking spaces are ridiculously small, even the disabled bays outside the hotel are stupidly tiny, there are some larger ones in the "overflow" area. Remember to check your registration number in at the check in desk though."

"Booked a junior suite for one night. Stunning room, could possibly do with a little tlc in the DIY department but absolutely spotlessly clean. Tea and coffee facilities were spot on but could possibly find a bigger fridge not located right next to the bed much more useful than what was provided. The Bentley tour to start our stay was absolutely fantastic and Jim made us feel very welcome and had a great knowledge of the city. Would absolutely stay again, its a lovely hotel and a great location."
