"Quaysiders resort is an apartment/hotel right by the upper side of Lake Windermere in Ambleside. It is in an absolutely perfect location close to the lake, shops, restaurants. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with a kitchen that had all kitchen amenities. Our Apartment was very clean and spacious . There is an indoor pool that was warm and it can also be like a Jacuzzi. "It was a great location. We did find the car park a little bit tight and tricky to get into (as the road was fairly busy when we arrived). The cottage was great and had all we were after and the downstairs bathroom was great for my elderly Mum. The two single beds mattresses were a bit past their best so the only thing I’d suggest to improve the property would be an update of those. Otherwise it was a great place to stay right on the river."

"An elegant comfortable building opposite the park. We had a quiet room (2) at the back of the building with an opening single glazed sash window. No view but we knew that and were grateful for the upgrade to be away from any traffic noise. There was a recess with a rail for hanging clothes but no drawers which would have been useful, but there was a suitcase stand. Free parking. Reception was efficient, helpful and friendly. Good wifi. The ladies serving at breakfast, Joanna & Jan, were delightful and very friendly. The over bath shower handset holder wouldn’t stay still but otherwise it was good. There was a soap recess on the basin – a rarity on modern sinks, but no hooks in the bathroom for hanging clothes. A big mirror had a shaving point beside it. There was a radiator in the bedroom but the heated towel rail in the bathroom didn’t work. The grouting between the floor tiles was messy. The room was nicely decorated with a decent double bed with sockets either side. It had a kettle, tea, coffee etc. Breakfast offerings included cereals, fruits, yoghurts, ham, cheese, cakes(!) and a choice of cooked items. Rooms were only serviced on request which was fine. There was a reassuring recent fire alarm system which went off when someone opened the bathroom door after showering before the steam had cleared but not sure if the escape route plan in our room was up to date. Our bathroom had a good extractor fan. The TV worked without difficulty. Remarkably good value for money."

"Room was clean, towels were not changed daily and tea/coffee facilities were not replenished every day, luckily I had taken my own. Staff very friendly, breakfast was good with lots to choose from. Pool area was good main pool was bright but a bit dark and dangerous in areas, the hot tub was not very clean or clear you could not see the steps to get in, needs lighting to see where you are going, health a safety hazard. Nice to have a bar on the poolside, and it stayed open till late. Lots of people in the on-site pub in bathrobes eating and drinking as you had to go through pub to get to the pool. Good in the pub had a good variety to choose from reasonable priced. All in all it was a nice hotel and a pleasant stay, but the pool area definitely needs to a bit brighter to see where you are going."
