Wonderful location

Set in the beautiful hamlet of Sandford Orcas. Steven has created a lovely place to chill. Quiet,friendly,and nicely appointed, dogs are a bonus and great food. Lovely comfortable beds too. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

A great stay at The Mitre Inn.

We felt very welcomed and looked after during our stay, with our friendly host Steve and the tasty food a particular highlight. It was almost like staying as the guest of a friend :-)

Beautiful surroundings, wonderful host and staff throughout. Comfortable stay with warm showers, large bed, clean and tidy. Good food in the evening too. The pub / hotel is sat within a very quiet and remote village.

Best place in Dorset

Iv stopped here a few times now and it's a lovely little quiet pub. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The owner Steve is a great host. The room are very clean and comfortable. The pub offers fantastic food, all homemade and the breakfast is one of the best iv had in any hotel. If your looking for a nice quiet place to stop for a few night in Dorset you must stay here.

Shhh don't tell everyone but...

What a find, a proper country pub with real beer, real people and great food. Add to that a suntrap of a garden and absolute peace through the night. Well done Steve, carry on doing what you are doing. Oh and did I mention the breakfast...?

Great value traditional country pub

Amazing country pub, warm welcome from Steve owner and buddy (dog). Clean room with comfortable bed and large shower room. Currently renovating the kitchen but breakfast served up in the top garden. Breakfast made to order and was delicious. We ate there three nights fresh pizza made to order in pizza oven using some produce from well stocked organic garden. The regulars and staff were so welcoming for a small village. Even met a kindered spirit originally from cleckheaton (Nick) the gardener. If you want a warm welcome with home comforts at a good price make The Mitre Inn Your next stop. Until next year!!

Dont miss this gem!

What a lovely stopover in my busy business week. A proper country pub with great standard of accomodation. The evening meal was devine as was the included breakfast the next morning. Peaceful, quiet and wonderful hists. Cannot fault my stay and will be looking forward to staying again. Thanks again Andy

An authentic village pub not pretending to be anything else. Basic menu well executed. Friendly, attentive but unobtrusive service. The only downside was the unpleasant smell coming from our bathroom.

We had a perfect stay here for us. It is situated in a very rural area near Sherborne. It is a popular pub with locals giving us an opportunity to meet and chat with them. The chef cooks lovely traditional pub food. The landlord could not have been more attentive and obliging.

Hidden gem of Dorset

Second time stopping at this lovely pub. The rooms are very clean and spacious. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Do not miss the full English breakfast, it's spectacular ( you won't need lunch after it ). I can recommend eating there as well, I had the burger and only just managed to finish it ( big tasty portions). I would suggest going out in the day but make sure you get back to enjoy the food and just sit back and relax with a nice drink and good people.

Everything you need for a break away .Wonderful fresh home made food which was good value and tasted amazing .No problem parking extended car park outside the Inn.The room we stayed in was a generous size and the king size bed was very comfortable .The hosts made us feel very welcome and when we are travelling that way again this will be our first choice .

A haven of peace in deepest Dorset

Arrived in the dark on a bitterly cold misty February night. Despite the fact that Steve had only just got out of hospital after a hip operation and clearly in pain, he did everything possible to make me welcome and comfortable. Rooms recently completely refurbished, well-pointed and warm. Great land scaping projects in the garden ready for the summer to make wonderful sitting out areas. The quintessentially simple cosy affordable Dorset Inn, log fire. stone floor simple decor, gumboots and pub labrador. Perfection.
