Sapillo Creek Escape is a one of a kind gem in the Gila Wilderness. Come experience our beautiful home in the Gila National Forest for a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation. Adjacent to Lake Roberts and minutes from the Continental Divide, our custom-built, southwest style home features comfort and luxury with incredible mountain views, 20 acres for hiking and enjoying the outdoors, plus the Gila right outside the door. Proximity to Silver City, NM means the best of both worlds – nature and serenity plus restaurants, galleries, shops and loads of local events.

Our home boasts 4 kiva fireplaces, Santa Fe style design with saltillo tile and custom touches throughout. Strategically placed windows and decks capture the beauty of the surrounding scenery. Sapillo Creek Escape borders the Gila National Forest on several sides, and additionally, the pristine Sapillo Creek runs through the property. If you’re a fisherman, bring your reel and fish right on the property, or take a quick drive to Lake Roberts for fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

Take a hike in the Gila or around Lake Roberts, visit the Gila Cliff Dwellings or Hot Springs, or take a scenic drive into Silver City for dining, shopping, museums, and a multitude of galleries and events. Kick back and relax on one of our many decks and porches, enjoy the view and the peaceful sound of the wind in the pine trees. Take a nighttime walk on our property to view the stars – the Gila National Forest enjoys some of the darkest skies in the continental U.S.

Over 3,000 square feet in the home at your disposal, this place is made for just you or you and your family and friends to enjoy the Gila Wilderness.

This is one of a kind space hosting four full bedrooms with adjoining decks that show off majestic views at 6,000 feet elevation. There are three full bathrooms and 4 kiva fireplaces!

You have access to it all!

The entire house was built by hand and it took nearly 7 years to complete. Everything is custom and I can promise you that you will never stay in a place like this!

A great location to retreat to and escape from the everyday! We want you to share this jewel with your family, friends, biking crew, birding group, hiking tribe, fishing buds, and your hunting pals to enjoy Sapillo Creek Escape!

We will entertain pets so long as they get along with other pets and have their recent vaccinations. If you are bringing a cat/cats or a dog/dogs, we have had issues with pets soiling the carpet and scratching up the doors. Please crate or keep pets in their carriers when you are not in the house or take your pets with you. We avail the use of a dog crate in the common area for dog(s) and for cats, please bring your own cat carrier. Also, please keep them off of the furniture to make it easier to clean and to be mindful of future guests who may be allergic. Finally, please pick up after them and throw the poop bags into a larger trash bag since we have to take the trash out to the dump and keeping track of all the individual poop bags is disgusting and annoying.

Finally, you’re on 20 acres of our land, so camping is also welcome!

Only cell service out here is T-Mobile.

We will have internet access but there are no TVs in the home. We want you to disconnect while you are here and enjoy the environment around you!

Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items and remove leftover food and drinks
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
Put furniture back as you found it.
Start the washing machines with dirty linens and towels before leaving
Throw away opened and unused foods. Feel free to leave unopened and unused groceries. We will give to the food pantry and/or the families of the cleaning crew.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Rules

NO fires, campfires, stove fires including use of charcoal or briquettes. This means no using outdoor charcoal grills!
Dogs are allowed but please keep them off of the furniture as we want to be mindful of guests who are allergic.
Please keep your pets crated when you are out as we have had damage done to our doors and our walls and our carpets in the past.

The family had a wonderful time in the spacious kitchen and the two dining areas came in handy. The home is nicely decorated and we were there on a warm weekend so it got a bit warm outside but the house was cool

The house is exceptional! Could use a little dusting, but we loved everything about the house.

Perfect getaway

We were in for a quick weekend to meet up with family. The home is just wonderful. It was way more than we expected. My dad gushed all weekend about the home which was fun and endearing. We enjoyed relaxing on the balconies and taking in the idyllic scenery. Plenty of parking. We will return!

Beautiful Wilderness Stay

5 adults and our dogs spent a lovely weekend at the house. We cooked, made fires, took walks, and enjoyed the expansive views. Took a day trip to the Gila Cliff Dwellings and nearby hot springs, too.

Gila wilderness luxury treasure

Our stay only lasted three nights which wasn’t nearly enough time to explore the exquisite treasures found at every turn in this house. No matter what the weather there was a balcony area to accommodate spectacular views. The artwork scattered throughout the home was beyond compare.I especially enjoyed how fully staffed the kitchen area was. We had some exquisite meals that we enjoyed in each of the three eating areas located in this home. I can’t fully express what a truly wonderful time I had just enjoying myself at this location.

Gila Gem

The Sapillo Creek Escape is an absolute treasure, a one-of-a kind home with beautiful southwestern décor and so thoughtfully designed to capture the beautiful mountain and forest views from every window and outdoor living space. The yard was perfect for our sweet dog, and every day we had a new adventure waiting for us in the Gila. Jennifer and her husband were incredibly kind to us and responsive, making our stay that much more enjoyable. We loved the house and park so much, we asked to stay one more night in this lovely gem. We definitely plan for a return trip and feel incredibly lucky to have experienced a week away in nature and in a house that is so exceptional!

Beautiful home located in a beautiful area. The hosts were great working with us so that our family would have a place to stay for a memorial service in Silver City. It is a nice area that has a slow winding but scenic road to Silver City. Would definitely visit there again!

Southwestern Stunningly Beautiful

I have stayed in many VRBO homes and this definitely was the most beautiful and amazing home and the most kindly and responsive property manager. We were a group of 7 women friends wanting to have a special weekend together. From the start, Jennifer worked with us as we had to reschedule because of some health issues in our group. She was immediately helpful and compassionate and worked with us. We just wished we could have met her in person to THANK HER. ...and then we arrived and couldn't believe how gorgeous the home was. It far exceeded our expectations. Every room had amazing southwestern pottery and artifacts. Also there were outdoor porches off of almost every room looking out at the beautiful Gila Wilderness. It was such a relaxing weekend. Without hesitation, I would recommend this home to anyone.

This home is a real find

This is an absolutely lovely home in an absolutely beautiful location. We feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay in this home. The family who built it clearly did so with a lot of love. The house is fabulous. My husband and I slept in the upstairs bedroom and waking up each morning felt like we were in a tree house. Staying at this house was the highlight of our trip to New Mexico. Jennifer the host was the best! Do not hesitate to book this house. I hope to return someday
