August 2017 Burgher houses, Slavonice, Czech republic Slavonice is small town on the border of Moravia, South Bohemia and Austria. Its distance from other places preserved its medieval Renaissance city centre look through centuries to date. Its heyday was in 14th to 16th centuries when it was an important town on the route from Prague to Vienna. In the picture you can see two most beautiful burgher houses (Nr. 518 on the left and 517 on the right). The one on the left has actually two facades so it looks like there are three houses. They have been Gothic originally but were rebuilt in 1559 in distinguished Renaissance style. All of them have exquisite facades decorated with Sgrafitto paintings and an oriel. The houses are situated on the Upper square opposit a baroque fountain of Saint Florian built in 1783.
