Perched high on a wooded cliff, this mountain cottage in the Laurel Highlands offers luxury amenities and plenty of charm. Enjoy the 2-story stone fireplace, Smart TV with WiFi access, and private trails to a trout stream; or relax on the covered porch with outdoor dining area.
Sited high on a wooded cliff overlooking the valley below with a beautiful trout stream, this cottage is located in the heart of the Laurel Highlands, just minutes to Vail's Seven Springs and Hidden Valley Resorts; Walk to restaurant or cross country ski to neighboring State Park. Short scenic drive to Fallingwater and Rafting at Ohiopyle.
This mountain cottage is the former home of the manager of the neighboring ski resort, and has many luxury amenities. It has been recently renovated while retaining lots of mountain charm. The living room features a 2 story stone fireplace with knotty pine atrium ceiling, skylights, 2 mission style sofas, recliner, and Smart TV with free on-demand video and WiFi access.
The new kitchen features stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher, full sized refrigerator, smooth top oven, built-in microwave, and Cusineart coffee maker. A butcher block kitchen island seats 2 for informal dining, while the adjoining dining area with handmade rustic lighting fixtures seats 6. The dining area has french doors which open up to a covered porch and outdoor eating area, providing a continuous indoor/outdoor seasonal living/dining area.
There are 3 bedrooms, all with knotty pine ceilings. A large master bedroom features a built in window seat and high-end, queen Sleep Number Mattress, with adjustable firmness to match your exact preference. Each of the 2 additional bedrooms sleep 2, with plenty of closet and dresser space and a half bath. Additionally there are 2 large sleeping sofas in the living room, and an inflatable mattress which can be used in the sunroom. The cottage sleeps 6 in bedrooms, but can accommodate up to 8 guests.
A top-of-the line LG Front load Laundry center provided further convenience. All plumbing and heating systems are new, with new bathroom fixtures, an efficient central heat pump for both heating and cooling, and individual room temperature controls. On a cold winters night, the stone fireplace with low maintenance gas firebox provides for additional heat and ambiance.
A big attraction of this property is the access to the outdoors. A large multi-level wrap around deck provides outdoor living space, and sits high above the bubbling trout stream in the valley below. The deck is built around a hemlock tree, which provides for pleasant summer shade. Huge rock outcroppings, mountain laurel, and ferns surround the property. Private trails provide access to a mountain spring and the stream, available for fishing (class 1 trout stream). The property is private, and backs to hundreds of acres of undeveloped mountain resort property. A trail leads directly to the adjoining state park, with lake, sand beach, and numerous hiking and picnic options.
A sun room provides a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors, even if the weather is not cooperative. It has heat and air conditioning and can act as a 4th bedroom via the inflatable mattress. With windows on 3 sides, rustic timber walls, and very a comfortable Lloyd Flanders Wicker set, it oozes with cottage charm!
Area attractions include ski and golf resorts, upscale winery (10 minutes), Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, White Water Rafting, Amusement Parks, and biking. Additionally, the neighboring resorts offer restaurants, spas, concerts, and summer day camps.

The location was perfect for our family weekend. My granddaughters loved hiking at Laurel Hill State Park and swimming at the beach. The cabin was excellent, clean, comfortable inviting spacious. The wrap around deck was great the fire pit one of the best that I have enjoyed. We definitely recommend and we’re definitely book again.
Our stay at this charming cottage was absolutely wonderful! The home was spotless, beautifully maintained, and featured an incredible stone fireplace that made for cozy evenings. With its stunning cliffside location, peaceful trails, and close proximity to Hidden Valley and Kooser State Park, this is the perfect getaway for relaxation and outdoor fun.
We enjoyed our time at the cabin. It was clean, well stocked, and comfortable. Only 5 minutes from Hidden Valley and 20 minutes from Seven Springs. The air hockey table was a great touch. I highly recommend a 4WD if visiting and snow is expected.
Nice visit, cozy in-the-woods feel for a weekend visit with our daughter and her family. Only wish, that there had been a shower in the half-bath.
Would love to return at some point.
Great winter jaunt. This clean, comfortable property exceeded my expectations. The bathroom now features a modern walk-n shower with a great shower panel with multiple jets. The furnishings have been updated as well. This was a great stay. Owner was a gem as is his property.
Spent the weekend here in early February. Had been hoping for ski weather but instead we had a beautiful sunny weekend and early spring. Cool location next to Kooser Run and Kooser State Park- walkable. Cabin is cozy and comfortable and would be nice in all seasons.
Had everything we needed for our family's quick ski trip and Dave was excellent to communicate with. Wishing we could have utilized more of the outdoor space. We hope to come back again to ski and again in another season. Really beautiful area and we loved the historic aspect of the cottage. Very tasteful!
cottage.
The cottage was beautiful, very clean and accessible. We had windiws and ceiling fans on and it was better than air conditioning. Besides hearing the stream below, it was very quiet and serene. Would highly recommend to anyone who just wants to get away and relax. Planning on returning next year!!!!!
This was a great place to stay! We went to the area for Seven Springs resort, but didn't want to stay there (too busy, too expensive, etc...). This cabin was a 20 minute drove down a beautiful snow covered up, down, and around winding road. The cabin was at the end of a short street of only about 5 houses. It was quite and peaceful and very serene in the back looking out into the woods/creek. I spent my time in the window seat with a book while the family was snowboarding. The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed and the owners communication was great! Highly recommend!
Tastefully decorated with new appliances, comfortable beds, great surrounding yard and lots to do in the area. Most of the rooms had their own air conditioning/heating units. Fancy shower.
The cottage is near a stream which is down a steep hill, preventing anyone to get to it. Plus I didn’t check the map carefully - the cottage is 75 yards from a highway - you can hear traffic noises.
We dislike the air hockey table.
Cottage was exactly what we needed for a relaxing weekend away. The fireplace worked great and the kitchen had everything we needed. Overall a great place to stay close to Hidden Valley and Seven Springs.
Family vacation. Went to seven springs and several area parks. We planned to go to Idlewild, but it was closed during the week, but we had a nice time.
We loved this property. It was perfect for our family of 5! My 3 daughters especially loved the air hockey table! We went skiing at Seven Springs and it was super easy to get there.

Very comfortable cabin in a beautiful area!
We loved the cabin the minute we stepped inside. It was so warm and cozy with just the right amount of space for our family of 5. We were able to cook a full Thanksgiving dinner in the well-equiped kitchen and then take a beautiful hike around the state park. Thanks for allowing us to create some great memories!
Very nice secluded cabin with lots of areas to rest and relax. Lots of space inside with enough area for all to have individual space and come together. Close by walking trail leading to a beautiful park.
My husband and I had a great time at this cottage. We went skiing at Seven Springs resort which was nice but was too crowded for COVID so we spent most of our time in the cottage. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and provided the perfect ambience for a weekend get away. We hiked in the Laurel Hill State Park also which was very nice.
Even better than we expected! The house is very private, but we had not trouble finding it. Spent a nice evening around the campfire after going to see Fallingwater. Dave was a great host!
Property was in a nice location, central to local amenities. We enjoyed staying at the property and all it had to offer, it was well suited for our needs. It could use a little updating, furniture/carpeted areas but beds were good and house was clean. David is a great host, easily accessable if needed and offer's good suggestions for things to do. Overall we had an awesome family bonding weekend!
It was very easy renting the property. The owner is super nice and super easy to communicate with. If I had any questions he got back to me promptly. And I had alit of questions..lol
This property is absolutely beautiful and serene, The drive wasn’t bad the turnpike wasn’t busy and it was a Nice scenic route so the drive was really pleasant. The house is beautiful and well-kept up they thought of everything some household items are provided although I brought my own,It’s a cozy cabin everything works well. The property is spacious and private.Min noise from the outside world nice retreat getaway.
Fantastic place. Great location to the slopes. Very clean and cozy place. We didn’t even want to leave. The kids loved the air hockey game. Kept them occupied while my Wife and I sipped on a glass of wine by the fire. The owner David was very nice. Even left us a bottle of wine as a welcome gift. No complaints whatsoever. Look forward to a return visit.
Thanks
No street sign or other markings at main road, we drove past 2x thinking the narrow gravel road was someone’s driveway. Beautiful wooden bridge over the rushing creek and well-marked in front of the actual cottage.
Had to track down old-school air fresheners before hubby’s allergies went crazy and never could locate source of funky smell in sunroom but weather was too chilly to use it during our stay anyway. Pockets of original charm, cozy living room with stone fireplace and wood beams and a quirky floor plan, front and large back porches, nice fire pit and chairs outside. Good kitchen, new appliances. Great place for 2-3 young couples or a family, ideal for visiting Kooser State park, hiking, trout fishing.
We went in the summer and explored the countryside. First, the house itself is beautiful, set amongst many blooming laurels and beautiful hostas, amazing landscaping. We started quite a few outdoor adventures right from the house walking around Kooser, plenty of fun things to do nearby with trips down to Ohiopyle and Linn Run to go on natural waterslides, hikes through nearby Roaring Run. A great lauching pad for outdoor adventures in south central PA.
The house was stocked with detergent for the dishwasher and other little amenities like that that some places lack. Loads of firewood and a great outdoor seating area. Host was incredibly responsive and polite, with a great guide to the area.
My only complaint would be the moldy smells from living room and front porch room. The cabin itself looked very clean but even with lots of windows and a fan running still bothered some in my party a bit. The kids didn't mind at all and spent quite a few hours playing air hockey out on the four seasons porch despite it. Not enough to stop me from going back but some might be more bothered than others which is why I mention it.
