Cumberland Falls State Resort Park

10/10 Excellent

"I wish I'd had time to stay for more than one night. I was on my way through, driving from North Carolina to Illinois, and this was a good stopping point. I avoid chain hotels as much as possible and looked in advance for a place near Cumberland Falls. You can't get any closer than this! There was plenty of time to go check out the falls during my brief stay before getting back on the road. The Caribou coffee that was on offer in the room was delicious, so I didn't even feel the need to go search for coffee on my way out. Otherwise, the room had all the basics that I needed aside from paper towels in the kitchenette. If I had one complaint, it would be that the door adjoining mine and the next unit could stand to be soundproofed. I heard every sound the kids in the next unit were making. Fortunately they went to bed at a decent time and didn't keep me awake all night, so it was all good. But I would recommend this as an improvement that could be made to the property."

"We has a great long weekend. Hated to leave. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Loved setting on the deck and watching the boats. The house was probably the cleanest that I have ever stayed in. Linda was awesome to work with."

"We had a relaxing time at the cottage. It was very convenient to restaurants and highways to get around. We enjoyed the hot tub and looking over the countryside. Was fun hearing the roosters every morning and our fur baby enjoyed the mooing cows, she spent time by the fence. Overall it was a very homey cottage and would consider staying again. Only complaint was the busy road in front and also I couldn't figure out how to turn on the shower, and was to embarassed to call so took baths instead."

"This property was very nice. Location was great! Perfect for a lake getaway. There was a Dollar General walking distance from house. Was nice when I needed something I forgot. We did have some hiccups the night we got to the house. The second bedroom upstairs has NO air-conditioning directly in the room. Had to turn the master bedroom air-conditioning down to 66 and turn our ceiling fan on high to push air down the hallway and into the spare bedroom. Our bedroom was nice and cold that night but my kids had trouble sleeping in a hot bedroom. One ended up downstairs on couch. Which was advertised as a place to sleep…but they had no extra blankets! Just sheets. So I put beach towels that I brought from home over my kid on the couch. Next morning we noticed there was not enough linen for everyone to take a shower. Had to contact host a second time to get more towels, wash clothes, and a blanket. Overall review the house was good. Only complaint is the air conditioning was barely manageable upstairs. Couldn’t turn the air conditioning in the master bedroom up at all because the spare bedroom would get so hot and stuffy. I would recommend instructions for the air conditioning units. There is one remote for both units. I was able to figure it out but would have been nice to have them. Wouldn’t have needed to contact host for instructions on how to turn air down for the upstairs unit if there was some instructions at check in or even in the post for house on website."
