Our experience of staying in this house was a disaster. How the owner handled the issue made it even worse.
We checked in on time and the house was a MESS ----- used sheets piled on the floor, garbage cans were full, kitchen countertops were dirty, leftover food in pantry drawer, sofa cushions stunk…we realized the house had not been cleaned! Another surprise, there is a two story house right on top of the backyard, no privacy at all. His pictures online are deceiving!
We immediately attempted to contact the owner Milton, but no response. One hour later we tried again and finally he answered. He had no idea the cleaning team didn’t show up! Fast forward, we had to change plan for the night because leaving our belongings behind with cleaning service ongoing was not an option. After enduring two hours of loud vacuum noise, dirty laundry carried past us, all kind of chemical cleaning spray smells…our whole night was ruined.
We asked Milton for compensation in the form of a one night refund, he offered 75% of this with no hesitation. We insisted on the one night refund, he said he had to talk to his partner.
Next day he didn’t mention the 75% offer at all, he changed his offer to waiving the cleaning fee which equated to approximately 30% of our request or staying one more night for free. Really? What’s the difference between staying one night for free and a refund of one night?
We believe Milton should have at least honored his original 75% offer. Accidents happen, as guests we expect the owner to do the right thing, keep your promise and handle the situation with honesty and integrity. We had a hard time finding these qualities from Milton. At the time of writing this review, we have received ZERO compensation from him.
