"We loved it! We stayed for five nights in May and it was wonderful! (Us: two middle age parents, two young adult children, from Florida) We were a little surprised by how rustic the road is. We have a regular car (sedan) and it seemed very low against the gravel. I’m glad we didn’t have to drive there during a storm! But the location is worth the drive! The little river was so pretty and relaxing. We “hiked” in the river about a quarter mile each direction. That doesn’t sound far, but it was hard work with the rocks and flowing water. Tip: Bring sturdy shoes that you can wear in the water, and find a good walking stick on the property. We’ve stayed in many short term rentals, and this was by far the cleanest and the most well stocked. Almost everything we looked for we found - extra blankets, books, kitchen items, spices, laundry detergent, everything! The beds were very comfortable. We loved that each room had its own thermostat and AC. The daybed in the window overlooking the river and the hammock on the lower deck were two of our favorite places to hang out. What made this stay really great was communication with our host. She messaged me a few days before with arrival details. Then she messaged me to make sure we got in with no issue, and later to check on us. I messaged her with a question and she replied quickly. This made a huge difference! I could go on and on, but basically - If you are considering this rental, do it! You’ll love it!"

"My favorite moments of the stay were spent sitting on the porch in the morning, listening to the birds sing. I have a bird song ID app on my phone, and was able to identify over 15 different bird species. So great to hear each song. The property has everything we needed for a comfortable stay."

"This was a perfect property for my son's graduation from Mars Hill. Five minutes from the school and a great coffee shop downtown! There was plenty of room and the kitchen was well stocked to make family dinners. Master shower wasn't working properly, and they were very responsive. We would highly recommend this property."

"This was the best house. It is like a step back in time. When it says it feels like Gradmas house it really does. Perfect fit for our family. The house is clean and well kept. They gave you plenty of towels and wash clothes. Hooks for hanging your towels. They leave you a snack basket and apple pastries. The beds are comfortable and we loved the outdoor seating. Mara Hill has our heart. We would definitely stay again. Thank you."
