"THEY CALLED THE POLICE!! Very nice, rated 5 on my ck in, when I paid them direct for a second night. Called twice to tell to ashtray in the room. They couldn't hear me on the phone. Noticed that night "no smoking" sign on door. Next AM found ash tray in coffee pot tray. Went to desk next AM to get late ck out for that night and (different lady) was instantly rude with a non-welcoming aura, saying "Well, you're already ckd out!" What? She insisted as if why are we still there?! I said, well, we're here, we paid for it yesterday. She finally saw the first lady put us for 2 days later (now the next day). This lady finally fixed it, and gave us new keys. Next AM, phone rings at 9 AM! I answered twice. She couldn't here, Then, banging on the door! First day lady said we didn't pay!! Rude!! I said we'd pay after we packed. Drove around to pay and COPS PULLED UP!! Seriously?! Paid. Turned to cop and said, I'm a DOCTOR!. He grinned, acknowledging she was a numbskull. He said you're free to go. And to think, I rated her a 5 at ck in, and was afraid for her getting into trouble having us smoke in a NS room. You get what you pay for I guess. WILL NEVER GO BACK, will gladly pay $$ to stay anywhere else!!"

"This was my first time at this hotel. I really liked it and it will become my go to place when I am in Springfield. Very cool lobby, great employees, just an all-around breath of fresh air for Springfield. The perfect business traveler room! Lots of plugs! Loved the steamer instead of an iron! Good breakfast! Neat place!"

"I think my major concern was the status of the carpet in the room that I was given - the carpet was very stained. I understand that the policy is now to have certain rooms set apart when you are traveling with pets, but when you are given a room where it is obvious dogs have had "accidents" on the carpet your own dogs are drawn to those areas. I travel with my small dogs several times a year and I wish all hotels which allow pets would install vinyl flooring in the rooms so that guests don't have to deal with odors and obvious wear from other animals. In the future, I'm going to make sure that I only stay at hotels with vinyl flooring. Sounds petty but it is a big concern for me. My dogs are very good at using the bathroom outside in designated areas but again, they're only dogs, and they are attracted to evidence of other dogs."

"Super outdated hotel. Needs a facelift and some remodel work. We had no hot water during our stay, and if you adjusted the temperature at all, the vents would make awful noises. Room had a weird smell. But, it slept us. We likely won’t return, but it sufficed."

"Wonderful trip! The staff was amazing and extremely helpful. I was happy with the valet service. They were very nice and efficient. The hotel is beautiful. Many spots to sit inside by the fireplace or outside. The room was beyond my expectations. Everything was spotless. The bathroom was clean and had a nice large shower. The bed was perfect. The balcony was the cherry on top. Gorgeous sunset views. A nice energy from downtown at night. Loved the record player in the room. There’s a nice vinyl shop across the street. Everything was so exquisitely finished and clean. The restaurant was divine. I loved everything there I tried. The waiters were very professional and attentive. I met several interesting and experienced waiters. I highly recommend staying at the Vandavort It’s a really lovely experience. It’s in downtown with lots of interesting shops and close proximity to the Convention Center."
