"It was all wonderful right from the check-in, the staff are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a well lit and very tastefully decorated and sizeable room, with comfortable beds, two small armchairs and a coffee table. The bathroom was well appointed with a bath and a large shower head. There were some nice extra touches as well, a small bottle of milk on arrival and later in the stay, plus bottled water, plenty of teabags etc. The food at breakfast was very nice too. The situation is marvellous, a short walk to the High Street and the Wetherspoons and other pubs/restaurants. Stamford is a lovely town with a great atmosphere and a park very near the centre. Burghley House is a short drive or a walk of just a few miles if you are a lot younger than us! We didn't get to Rutland Water, but we will go next time - because we definitely want to go back. All in all a brilliant break, hopefully to be repeated a few times at least. "

"The staff were some of the best I've experienced, from the front desk to the restaurant. All went out of their way to be helpful and make my visit special. The hotel location, right off the walkway around Rutland Water was wonderful. Great views and easy access to the nearby marina and basic cafe. And the restaurant was in an orangery facing the water...beautiful. The on-site restaurant offerings were spot on. The breakfast service was your basic English breakfast but well done, high quality, and attentive service. Dinner was perfectly done...only 4 or 5 appetizer and 4 or 5 main course offerings. But these were high quality, properly cooked dishes and, from what I had, all fresh ingredients. Excellent dining experience. The only reason I didn't give a score of 10 across the board was the following... In booking through an app, I think I got one of the last rooms at a great rate. But the hallway leading to the room and the room and bathrooms themselves small, not much room for my bags and no real desk room. All of that is a little tricky for a 6'4" tall person. Still, I would definitely return to enjoy what overall was a great experience."

"We had a wonderful weekend at this property and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. The location is ideal—quiet and relaxing, yet conveniently close to everything Stamford has to offer. The house itself was spotless and very well appointed, with all the amenities we could have asked for. From the comfortable beds to the fully stocked kitchen, it’s clear the owners put thought into making sure guests feel right at home. Communication with the owner was excellent from start to finish—friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout the entire process. We really appreciated the attention to detail and the overall cleanliness and comfort of the space. We loved Stamford and would happily return to the house for another stay. Thanks again for a great experience!"

"Lovely pub/hotel with lots of old world charm. Clean and comfortable in a great location. Stayed for Sunday lunch which was excellent. Bedroom was spacious and had everything you could need. My only very slight negative was the traffic noise, as our room was at the front. "
