The Shenandoah Valley of Virginia is the ultimate relaxation destination. If you are looking to relax and unplug, the Shenandoah Valley is perfect for you, all four seasons of the year. Whether you want to enjoy the Shenandoah River, Skyline Drive/The Blue Ridge Parkway, Massanutten Four Season Ski Resort and Water Park, Luray Caverns, the historic New Market Battleground, Harrisonburg, or Charlottesville there is something to do year-round.

This one bedroom, one bath carriage house apartment is located on the South Fork Shenandoah River. Experience extreme relaxation on this 9 acre property where wildlife and farm animals abound. Guests will enjoy watching deer, wild turkey, bald eagles and more.

The detached apartment was just completed and features all the amenities you need for relaxing. Guests have dedicated parking and their own separate private entrance with electronic keypad locks, so there are no keys to worry with.

Amenities include queen bed, fully furnished kitchen with full size refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee maker. Dishes, silverware, pots and pans, toaster, hair dryer, full size washing machine and dryer, propane grill, fire pit, and lounge chairs. Guests have Internet and DISH satellite TV. Not only are your pets welcome but they will have a blast exploring this beautiful wildlife haven.

Overlooking the South Fork of the Shenandoah River, guests can access the river via two separate public boat landings in under a five minute drive. The property borders River Bend Ranch, a 250 acre working ranch which offers horseback trail rides to riders of all skill level. The apartment offers magnificent views of the ranch and large riding ring.

The property is 20 miles from the Thornton Gap Entrance of Skyline Drive. Skyline Drive is a 105-mile road that runs the entire length of the Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The drive provides access to numerous trails, including the Appalachian Trail, and it is also used for biking and horseback riding. Skyline Drive is the main road through Shenandoah National Park and has access to campgrounds, visitor centers, and resorts such as Skyland Resort and Big Meadows. The scenic drive is particularly popular in the fall for leaf peeping when the leaves are changing colors. Skyline Drive website: https://visitskylinedrive.org/

Massanutten Four Season Ski Resort and Water Park is a short 18 mile drive. Enjoy indoor and outdoor water park activities, fall foliage chair lift rides in the fall and snow skiing in the winter.

Luray, Virginia offers the magnificent Luray Caverns (https://luraycaverns.com), the Luray Zoo (https://www.lurayzoo.com) and tons of great shops and restaurants.

Fantastic experience!
What a great experience we had with our host and the stay at the property. Such a cute little place and thoughtfully stocked with most anything you would need. It was a beautiful drive to a secluded home with rolling mountains and nature all around. The host and his family were incredible, welcoming and accommodating, we can't speak highly enough of them! Thank you Chip for creating such a nice place for a fun and relaxing vacation, as well as the valuable tips for fun adventures in the area! We hope to be back.

We absolutely appreciated the setting, general vibes, and kind communication from our host. He even dropped off fresh eggs on our first day! We did notice that the unit hadn’t seemed to get a full clean recently. There was some dusty areas, dishes put away dirty (could have been a guest), and the toilet had a mold ring around it. All that said, we would still come back to this spot because of its ease of access to spots like Luray Caverns, and Skyline Drive. Would be 4.5 stars if that was possible.

Perfect Vacation
The property is beautiful. Perfect location right on the Shenandoah River. A short drive to Luray and Shenandoah Park. The loft itself is amazingly decorated and luxurious. Chip is a phenomenal host as well. Can’t wait for our next stay! It is by far the best place we have stayed In Shenandoah, and we had stayed at some good properties in the past.

Great location and Wonderful host
We stayed in this property for 3 nights. The owner lives in the main house (same property), so he is available if you need him. Great location, in middle of typical country set up! You can see horses etc from neighboring farm from the property. Park entrance is just 30 mins away. Just a bit of caution: don't expect quick grab of food or coffee nearby. This is not a big town anyway. We are very impressed by the owner for his prompt response. After a long drive to reach the property, I was badly needing a coffee but couldn't find ground coffee. I texted Chip (owner), within minutes he left a box of coffee and other stuff at the door (even though owner is not supposed to provide coffee). Kitchen is fully equipped. Rooms are reasonably decorated. The only issue I had was with digital lock. We kept the door open when going out, very safe place! Enjoy your trip.

While looking for a place that was near Luray Caverns we came across this rental unit. Once we saw this unit we knew right away this is where we wanted to stay. The online pictures very accurately described this unit. It was very well furnished and nicely decorated. It was a very quiet rural area and close to the places we came to visit.

The host was excellent! We had a minor issue with the refrigerator, but the host promptly resolved the issue. This carriage house was beautiful and very well maintained. The area was beautiful as well, and not far from two entrances to the Shenandoah National Park. I will definitely come back here!

Wonderful Retreat
We were looking to decompress after the holidays, and this property was perfect! Beautiful views, warm, friendly hosts, and so close to Luray and Shenandoah National Park. We were able to drink in some nature and relax. Loved the chickens and the cows. Thank you to our host, Chip, for the delicious, fresh eggs. Would definitely recommend.

A peaceful and lovely retreat
The accommodations and location were perfect! I was looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, and this abode was absolutely serene. Plus, the interiors were so cozy, and I loved how the host set the ambience to be really welcoming. Also, for anyone wanting to cook, this is THE place. The kitchen is fully loaded, and the host even offered to lend anything else I might need for my cooking purposes. I would definitely go back!

Lovely country retreat
We used this place as a home base when visiting Shenandoah national park. The grounds are beautiful and the apartment is perfect for 2-4 people. It’s cozy, was very warm on chilly November evenings and was very quiet inside, and has everything I could have thought of. The host was very easy going and kind! 5/5 would definitely recommend

Fantastic, relaxing stay
We loved our recent stay! The place was very cozy and inviting (not to mention: insanely clean,too!) upon arrival. Everything you need is there and very well organized. Having a one year old, it was a great property to roam. We enjoyed visiting horses/cows and chickens, and even new baby chicks! We loved walking down to the river- great scenery. Chip and his parents are so so friendly and very knowledgeable about the property, animals and the surrounding area if you have any questions. Shenandoah National park is not too far away, no more than 30 mins, we also enjoyed Luray Caverns which is a must. We appreciated our tasty, fresh organic chicken eggs at our door in the morning, as well as your homemade salsa to take home! Thank you again Chip, Mom & Dad :)

It is a place off the road where if you have kids they can play outside and not worry about cars hitting them.The place has everything in it that you would need for your stay,Very clean and Quit.It is a view of the Mountains and Chip the owner is very friendly and nice .His parents live in the basment of his house and they are super nice.You have a walk to the river and hiking,It is animal friendly which we really liked.I cant say enough about it my husband and I really enjoyed our stay and we will be going back again.All i can say is you really need to try it you will not be dissapointed I promise.Thanks Chip for the great stay at RIVERSIDE in Stanley VA.

Shenandoah Mountain vacation
The property was clean and comfortable. The location was distanced from other properties. We enjoyed seeing the horses, cattle and deer nearby. We were not too far from the national park, the river and other attractions to visit. All in all we had a very pleasant stay.

Just lovely!
Our family of four had a wonderful experience staying here for the weekend. Chip is a phenomenal host - we had interruptions to our trip and Chip just rolled with it. He was incredibly responsive to the few questions we had, but he has set-up this property so everything is easy to find and use. The apartment was super clean, the kitchen and bath were well-stocked, and the bed was very comfortable. We also loved walking around the property and visiting with the animals. Don't hesitate to book a stay here - this is a great place for exploring the Shenandoah region!

A nice getaway on a quiet farm
Overall, pretty quiet and comfortable. The unit is actually the upstairs of a detached garage that has been recently furnished. This was a bit different than expected, as we thought it was more of a guest house situated on the far end of property and that we would be a bit more solitary. We discovered the refrigerator wasn't working when we arrived although this wasn't a major inconvenience for us. The owner was helpful and very responsive the entire time, and yet gave us enough distance that we felt alone on the property. Their property is large, but perhaps because of the housing situation we did not feel comfortable enough to wander, and there were also fences everywhere so we felt like we may have been trespassing on unknown property if we did so. It felt more of situation where if you plan to spend the entire day in Shenandoah, this would be a good place to come back for a comfortable place to sleep (which became our case) Still, this was a nice getaway - feedback to improve I would suggest: - Leaving directions for checkout (we did not know where to put trash, laundry, etc) - Ensure appliances work before guests check-in - Better pictures or descriptions of property to show living space is not full house depicted - Signs or information marking where it is okay to wander or lounge on property if allowed I hope this helps someone.

BEAUTIFUL views, clean and cozy, don’t wait BOOK IT!!!!
The pictures just don’t do this place justice. It’s everything you see and more! The place was so cut, spacious and cozy. We felt right at home from the minute we got there. My 12yr old daughter, our dog and I headed in for a spring break getaway. I was not prepared for how amazing this trip would be. The sunrises on this property were incredible!!! The wildlife from the beautiful horses running and playing, the deer in the mornings and evenings, to the baby calves, we even seen a peacock! It was just beautiful. Chip was available for anything we needed. There was a well put together binder to provide ideas and suggestions for what to do and we used it. The property is so close to many attractions like the Luray Cavers which is a must see! The Shenandoah National Park which the views are insane off the mountain!! And so many great little restaurants and cute little downtowns we explored! We took the dog for walks in the mornings and got to see beautiful sunrises, deer by the dozen, incredible Mountain View’s, walk down by the river and circle back up next to the horse ranch. Just nothing like it! We also made reservations at the horse ranch next door (River’s Bend Ranch) and took the trail ride all the way down the river. Highly recommended! After doing our touristy stuff we came back relaxed and we’re able to Netflix and chill on the comfy couch, and finally get some rest in the VERY incredibly comfy bed!! You have everything you need to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner here. Not to mention the dishwasher! Lol I can not say enough things about how amazing our stay was here. We will be back!!! If you are contemplating booking this stay, DON’T, you will not regret it. The memories we made from this trip are gonna last us a lifetime. Thanks Chip!!!
