Nice stay

Positives: Hotel was in a good location in the city and there was very good breakfast. Room was located in a quiet place. Nice bar in the hotel too with jazz. Negatives: The lighting in the room was very dark cause you could not really keep curtains open cause other rooms were really close on the opposite side. The sink in the toilet was really small and the wooden ceiling was a little dangerous nighttime cause it was so low.

Good location but low standard.

A charming little hotel that has seen its best days. Good and silent location downtown with walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The standard of the rooms is low. A plus for the breakfast that is inlcluded. They created a nice and cozy atmosphere.

Cozy, but tad bit dusty.

Great location! And friendly staff. Very cozy room as well. Sadly, the room was quite dusty and the bathroom might need a renovation soon. The breakfast is what you would expect, bit boring, but cover the basics (scrambled and boiled eggs, pancakes, yoghurt, rye bread, etc.)

Good location, just a short walk into the city centre. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere. I appreciated the free tea and coffee. My room was fine, although a little warm, with openable window. Great breakfast with lots of choice. All the staff seemed friendly.

Really lovely spacious room. Good size shower room. Clean and tidy. Nice and bright. Bit warm but they’d provided a fan and the windows open. Comfy bed - firm.

Comfortable quirky hotel

A smaller hotel with a quirky layout and comfortable ambience! A place you feel more of gratitude to be invited in as a guest rather then a picky and paying such. Had a smaller room but practical and fully functional. Window towards the courtyard. Silent with no disturbing noice throughout the night. The bed might not be a top end brand but it delivered, as intended, a good night sleep. Walking distance to the northern parts of city center giving you ample of choices of food, drinks, shops and entertainment. On top of that a 'bargain' price!

I had the hardest time booking our hotel in Stockholm despite it being one of our first stops. The reason was because I had to make sure that the hotel take late check in. Hotel Hellsten does and it was actually a good decision. Breakfast was included and it was delish. They even prepared a to go breakfast box for us since we had to leave early. The room and bathroom was very satisfactory and service was great. Public transport was within walking distance from the hotel and there are resto close by.

Among similarly ranked hotels, this hotel was a bit more affordable for us and we decided to accept the necessity of being a bit far from the T-central. The result was beyond our expectation! Our double room was on the 5th floor with a lovely balcony with a small table! The hotel also offered free coffee and tea in the cozy lobby. The decoration in the entire building was a bit like an antholopology museum and we loved it! The location was also great and through walking to the center we discovered many nice places! We stayed only 3 nights but we could enjoy the city of Stockholm so much. Thank you for hosting us so kindly.

The hot breakfasts were very good with lots of selection. The front desk staff were accommodating and friendly. I didn't like how dark the entryway was - almost foreboding! Need a table of some sort around the sink in the bathroom for toiletries. No air conditioning. We were fortunate that the weather was cooler when we stayed so kept the window open all night and the room cooled off.

A good mid-level choice if you want a compromise between the convenience of downtown and the services of a neighborhood. There are tons of non-touristy restaurants and bars at all levels within easy walking distance and a supermarket and pharmacy a block away. The major sites of Stockholm are on the waterfront, not near the hotel, but there's a subway station a block and a half away that will get you downtown in minutes. The hotel is very well maintained and it's clear that the owners are trying to provide the best experience. For example, there are many breakfast options, including plant-based and lactose-free milks, several kinds of bread, and even oatmeal. There's free live jazz once a week in the bar. (It's not great, but I appreciate the effort.) The decor veers toward "shabby chic" - don't expect a Marriott-type look with cookie-cutter rooms and corporate decor. I had a top-floor room with a sloped ceiling, exposed wooden beams, and a casement window that opened, not mechanical ventilation. It was a perfect choice for me, but might not be to everyone's taste.

Not warned about nightime noise disturbance

The hotel itself is 'shabby chique' with every room differently furnished with 'antiques' - four-poster bed; distressed trunks and deskes etc. WiFi is reliable and fast. Breakfast is excellent. The bar food is OK but not all the items were available when we ate there (and there are only about 6 items on the menu). TV selection is poor - BBC World and 4 Swedish channels; no Netflix or streaming. No coffee/tea in room but there is a 24/7 beverage machine in the lobby. No information folder in room ('phone numbers, services, local restaurants etc.) Shower/bath had good water pressure and toiletries were of good quality. BUT...Noise! we were woken at 0430-0500 by trucks being loaded/unloaded from the hotel doorway directly beneath our window and other trucks across the street. This was followed by laundry carts or similar being wheeled noisily across to the Rex hotel opposite (same owners). Staff at reception claimed no knowledge of this and said it must have been other businesses that were responsible. From what I saw from our window this was not the case I cannot believe that no previous guests have not brought this matter to their attention. Guests should be warned and offered alternative quieter accomodation.

The location of the hotel was very good, and the staff were extremely friendly. The complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby was a nice touch. Although the rooms were a bit small, they were clean and well organized. The breakfast was rich and varied. We will definitely choose this place again when we return to Stockholm.
