Stay in Grace: Beautiful Camper with World-Class Views in Wine Country of Paonia
10/10 Excellent
"This was such a nice little place to spend a few days! The host was very communicative and was able to take care of a minor problem (a wasp's nest) immediately since she lives right next door. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The "upstairs" bed was quite firm, but I slept fine. The highs during the day when I was there in early July were around 85-87 degrees, and while it wasn't exactly cool inside during the afternoon and evening, keeping the windows open to let a cross-breeze through the screens, and utilizing the oscillating fan that was provided kept me comfortable enough. With the windows open overnight, the 60-65 degree lows cooled things down through the following morning each day. There were small AC units in the bedroom and the dining area, though, if you need them. There were about 4 of everything in the kitchen: plates, spoons, etc. along with a few other basic kitchen implements. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner were nice. The composting toilet wasn't any trouble; I did keep the bathroom door closed due to a minor smell which was to be expected. I enjoyed drinking coffee each morning in the small outdoor seating area, and I walked right next door to the Stone Cellar Winery for a tasting one evening. One of the days, I drove 10 minutes into Paonia for a little shopping, and it is a very cute little town. This place could pretty comfortably house two; three would be a squeeze! I highly recommend this for a little getaway. The views were wonderful!"
"We loved our stay at this beautiful and very comfortable cottage! The inside and the outside were equally pleasing and delightful. The price was very reasonable. It was pet friendly, and Kale was a great communicator. Also, very convenient...in town, and can walk to the main streets, but tucked away perfectly. Highly recommend, all the way around, and we can't wait to come back and stay, next time we are in Paonia."

"It was very clean and very charming I especially loved the fresh flowers. It was a peaceful beautiful place to stay and I’ll go back whenever I can. George and Devon were very kind and accommodating! I didn’t want to leave! The shower house was wonderful and I enjoyed visiting with both George and d Devon. They had the yurt stocked with everything you could need and the books were awesome abd the games and puzzles were great. I loved the little sitting areas around the yurt a d the flowers and native grasses etc were very thoughtfully placed avd all the metal sculptures were charming I loved it there and so did both my dogs!"
"The cabin was just as described, clean and comfy. The beds were very comfortable and our dog loved the dog bed provided. It is important to note that in the description it says that the "bath house" is 200 feet away from the cabin. This means not only showers, but toilets and sinks are 200 feet up a rutted path. (Lanterns are provided in the cabin.) This is a long way to go in the middle of the night, so this cabin is not ideal for anyone who needs a toilet during the night. Also, we were looking forward to seeing the night sky from the porch of the cabin, and eating our breakfast on the porch while enjoying the view. While other cabins seemed to have two chairs, ours had only one chair with a broken back so there was no chair for a second person."
"Violet House at Zenzen Gardens was a clean, charming, and affordable 3-day getaway for us. Cindie (and her delightful shadow, Ginger the dog) was a gracious host. The cottage was pleasantly cozy with a comfortable bed; the quiet property is a beautiful 12-minute drive from the lovely downtown Paonia. We enjoyed the grand view from the veranda and tasting award-winning wines from Alred Eames Cellars. The only reason for an overall "good" rather than "excellent" rating is that the shower (clean with with plenty of hot water) is outdoors, attached to the cottage, and the restrooms are portapotties -- exactly as advertised, by the way, and largely why the cottage is such an affordable option and such a good value. Highly recommend."
