Wonderful place to stay
We stayed in Room 8 the family apartment as there were three of us. It was like having your own little house. We had a twin room downstairs and my father in law was upstairs in an another twin room. The decor was lovely throughout. The whole guesthouse has very attractive external decoration also. The rooms had really comfortable beds and pillows. Great shower and very good wifi. Tea/coffee/ chocolate and a fridge was situated in a little hallway on the ground floor of the apartment. I am very surprised to see that three reviewers have rated the rooms as basic/average. We travel a lot and this is NOT basic accommodation. Breakfast was very good. Lots of delicious breads, rolls, meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit, juices, boiled eggs.etc. All the staff were very friendly and Meike made a point of speaking to all her guests at breakfast time, which was nice. Location was very good, being within easy walk of the main shops and town centre restaurants. No where was really that difficult to get to from Meike's.

Exceeded our (high) expectations!
We were looking forward to staying at Meike's from what we saw on the net and from personal recommendation. What we found was beyond our expectations. The appartment was large, clean, comfortable, quiet and very tastefully furnished and decorated. Our car was securely parked in their protected car park. The location made it easy to get anywhere. Our hosts were very friendly and informative. The breakfast was excellent, such choice and quality...we even took a picture. We cannot recommend Meike's enough!

Great stay in Swako
We were in one of the two room Family units for our two night stay at Meike's. It was huge! Well equipped kitchen; much more than the '4 of everything' that one finds at many places. We arrived on a Sunday around supper time with no dinner reservations, apparently unwise for Swako. Nevertheless, Meike made a couple of calls and got us in, and also managed to get us reservations at Tug's the next day. This lady has 'pull' around town!! We went sandboarding on our second day and Meike arranged this as well. All in all I would highly recommend Meike's and would definitely stay there again. Oh, forgot to mention that breakfast was excellent, and the rates were unbelievably reasonable. A great value.

I wish I could say we loved this place. We had a nice big room which was very clean. The furnishing was simple but updated. The room was nicely decorated. The staff was accommodating. However, in our room the road noise was terrible and the guest house is not far out but it is not central. I wish we had been closer to shops and the beach. Maybe, some of the rooms closer to the front office were quieter.

Best In Swakup!!
Meike & Klaus are the best! We arrived late, and they waited for us, let us extend without a problem while we waited for a car to come in at Walvis Bay. These people are first class, and we would advise anyone to pass on the large hotels, and go to Meike's. If you are American, and not familiar with the guesthouse thing, book here, you will love it! Superb hotel in Swakop - look no further!
We booked a room in a category that was not ideal for us as a couple (family room with 2 bedrooms). Once we got there, the owner at Meike's gave us a double room which was more suited for us and gave us the difference of the room back. We had only booked two nights but liked it so much that we asked for a 3rd one, which they happily arranged. The service is very unobtrusive but warm. The owner made sure that we had breakfast, even though it was after the time they closed it. The secure parking and very central location are definitely very useful. The room was clean, airy and bright, with a very good sized bathroom and hot, high-pressure water in the showe. Overall, I was very happy with our choice!
