This place dosen't have any food and only drinks. The staff are very friendly but theres no 24 concierge. Concierge is simply the bar staff downstairs. The washrooms have no soap dispensers. The rooms automatically lock and that's bad if you forget your key because again, there's no 24 hr concierge to help you. Your'e looking at a 6/10 stay here and you get what you pay. The bedding is only partially clean but the rooms are quite clean overall. Would definitely not stay here again but it is priced fairly.

While waiting for check-in time, an evacuation alarm sounded! The owner was annoyed. “Someone’s smoking in their room and set the alarm off…again” The fire dept arrived a few minutes later. I mentioned that i was looking forward to be able to have dinner here, too. “Oh, no, we’re between caterers.” The room smelled of mildew/ mould and the walls looked like someone had hosed them down at some stage, with streaks and drips everywhere. Instant coffee, tea, sugar, kettle….nothing to stir them with. (I used a pen from my bag!) Enough milk for only two cups…when I asked for more milk on the second day, he handed me 4 little cup sachets. (Can you spare it?!) The showers had nowhere dry except two small hooks. One morning I went to brush my teeth, only to find green vegetation along the sides of the sink…like someone had dressed a salad in there!! This place is, quite simply, disgusting.

The absolute worst long-stay accommodation ever, by far. I was in Sydney for 5 weeks producing an event during World Pride (that was very successful). But made the mistake of staying at Illinois aka Ill-Annoy Hotel the whole time. Room and shared bathrooms (except obviously dirty shower tiles) are ok but that's where it ends. I got scabies from the bedding for the first time in my life with terrible symptoms emerging after about 4 weeks (just like the textbooks say). Traffic noise is terrible from Great Western Highway with no effort to seal the windows etc. Combined with constant seemingly deliberate and harrowing slamming (literally every couple of minutes) of other room doors/hallway doors/bathroom doors all through the night almost every night. Meaning you have to use really good earlplugs to get any kind of sleep. The shared toilets had run out of toilet paper at least half the times I wished to use them. In the whole 5 weeks no staff ever made contact with me. Never. Not to see if I needed clean towels or bedding or anything. So I resorted to driving my laundry including their scabies-sheets to a laundromat in Dulwich Hill. I feel the two young male cleaners of culturally diverse backgrounds figured out I am a gay man and took to intentionally excessively busying themselves with very loud vacuum cleaners etc every morning right outside my door (instead of doing their jobs properly). As well as what I feel were other harassing homophobic tactics... (see Google for more)
