Lovely accommodation with a patio and in a great location. The breakfast was included in our stay and offered a variety of items to choose from, it was the best breakfast we had on our month long stay in Sicily. Highly recommend!

It was perfect for us. We were close to the beach and they had a free shuttle to the Valley of the Temples. The parking was very easy also.

We booked a “Superior” room as it cost only a few extra Euros/night but ended up with a standard room (smaller and zero view). They gave us a discount on departure but make sure you get the Superior if you book Superior. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful hotel well located

Nice stay in this beautiful hotel. Wonderful room with painted ceiling. Good breakfeast but we did not feel welcome to it (have to ask for forks, spoon, and seem to bother when asking). The hotel location is very good, not in the overcrowded parts of Ortigia, but at walking distance of everything. The team can send your car plate to the police to authorize access to ZTL to drop off luggages. Some people went back to their room late in the night and made lot of noise in the corridors.

The location was very good and the staff was helpful. Our ground-floor room had a nice little courtyard. Unfortunately, the shower was very slippery and had mold in the grout. I don't think the floors were swept while we were there; probably something that should be done when guests are out walking the town every day. We didn't get to see the rooms in the main part of the hotel, so can't comment on them.

Charming

Overall a charming and very welcoming little hotel. The breakfast was a simple but adequate one. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room was a bit unusual. Wi-Fi was very poor. Shower room was basic. That’s the main negatives dealt with. Overall, it’s a beautiful old building which is perfectly situated right in the middle of Ortigia. Everything is within easy walking distance (if you don’t lose your bearings!!) and given its rating as a three star hotel, it’s fair value for money. I expect we will return to Ortigia sometime and would be quite happy to make Hotel Gargallo our base once again.

Great location in the middle of Ortigia Island, but a little hard to find at first because the streets are confusing. You can drive right up to the entrance and drop your bags, even though it doesn’t look like a real street, then park in the lot for 15 euros per 24 hours. The ticket machine is old and hard to figure out….exact amount in cash only! The hotel staff is very nice, friendly, and helpful. Our superior room was on the ground floor, clean, and fairly spacious. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night. Furniture is a little run down and probably should be replaced, or is just the end of the season? Bath towels are great. Breakfast was typical with lots of choices, with great espresso made to order. Hard boiled eggs should have been fresher. We recommend this hotel.
