Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The property itself is old and a bit rundown and does have overdue maintenance. However, the staff were warm and friendly for the most part and the rooms were clean.
First impressions it looked a bit rundown as we drove in. Booking in simple, room clean and spacious. Evening meal good, varied selection for breakfast, but require sharper knives for bacon.
Hotel is a bit tired. Room was poorly dressed. Bed under window! Small old fashioned portable TV. Bathroom in desperate need of refurbishment.
Staff were really helpful and food in restaurant good.
Overall accom and food/drink over-priced and really felt poor value for money to spend £150 on a room without breakfast.
Quaint and had some fading grandeur but still much better than most economical bookings

The property has a lot of history and takes you back in time. Easy walk into town, close to motorway and griovery store. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. Enjoyed the bar, loubge and restauarant during our brief stay. The property needs some love in terms of maintenance though, but our stay was peaceful, enjoyble and comfortable.

We needed a small room for a one night stay. It fit the bill. Not comparable to larger hotels in bigger cities, but it fulfilled my needs. The restaurant meal was excellent and the staff was friendly.
Property in gorgeous building. All of the staff were as good as it gets. Pleasant, friendly and experienced.

Staff was wonderful! Bed was very mushy and uncomfortable, previous guests rubbish was in the room. We requested an extra blanket which was left on the floor outside our room. We will not stay here again.

In need of investment.
Just down the road from the Glenmorangie distillery this hotel was once a magnificent establishment. However, its halcyon days seem to be in the past. If you don't look too closely it still has a certain charm but a big investment is required to bring it back to its former glory. The driveway and gardens are in particular need of improvement.
Shocking stay. Cold and the windows leaked. Complained and they said they had fixed it and it still
Leaked.
Rooms were freezing.
Shocking value for money

Charming and stylish old hotel. Yes, the rooms might need some updating, but it is still well maintained and clean. My second time visiting in 8 months from Canada. Very large rooms and bed (even by North American standards), very friendly/Scottish staff :) Big dining room, bar and separate lounge next to the bar with sofas. Very large parking. A bit pricy, but not different from other establishments in UK it seems (knowing how much electricity cost there... that alone is a reason). I am a light sleeper, so, I appreciated how quiet it is there.
Would definitely go back anytime.

EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS
Firstly the booking wasnt confirmed at the hotel, so it took half an hour to get a room sorted. The mattress was terrible. Could feel the springs through it. Fortunately i got a few blankets to make a topper. The shower has no pressure to it. The water dribbled out when the shower handle/head was in the holder. Old style radio still on the walls... no USB points. Needs a bit TLC
The location for us was really great - close to a number of golf courses, distilleries, village and grocery store. This property really needs an update. Carpeting in the hallways and common area furniture needs refreshing for sure. The furniture is VERY tired and uncomfortable. The chairs and divan in our room had legs no higher than 6 inches. Did the elfin used to stay here? May have been comfortable for them, just not for my 6'4" husband. Bathroom completely outdated and the pillows on the bed should have been thrown out a LONG time ago. We can overlook a lot of things, but bad pillows aren't one of them. We ate dinner in the hotel (not a lot of other choices around) and both nights I had the Bolognese pasta. Seriously one of the BEST I have ever had. Morning breakfasts were adequate and tasty too.
All in all an OK place to stay though we never really felt welcomed by the staff - they seemed indifferent to us though we tried to engage them. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
