"The apartment is in a great location, very central, and it was clean. However, you do pay for what you get. It was a good price, so perhaps we should not have been surprised to find that it was in need of maintenance. There was some dodgy-looking electrics, no basic handsoap, no towel rings for hanging a hand towel near a sink, damaged walls etc. Overall, it made it feel cheap, and.... edgy. Worst of all though is their customer service. Nobody answers the provided phone number, and emails are...

"Johanna could not have been nicer. My friends arrived from the States relatively early on our arrival date. They were able to at least drop off their bags and explore the neighborhood. The "how to" book was great and the added info we received from Johanna filled in the blanks not in the book. The neighborhood is super quiet and positioned very close to the Simonis Metro station. There is a lovely park across the street. We recommend this location highly."

"Great central location but couple of issues - lights in bathroom didn't work, there was a massive ridge in the middle of the floor (trip hazard) & the fridge was not working - in fact it was running very hot & there was a burning smell in the unit (plastic was warping inside fridge around light) - a clear fire risk. When informed Smartflats simply thanked us for the info & made no attempt. to remedy or compensate. Poor service as we rented the apartment to prepare our own food & were limited....

"Place was clean, but may not have been used for a while as there is an odor of sewer when I first arrived. I ran water in all the drains, opened the windows, and it went away. But I would recommend if the property manager knows no one has been there for a while, to check it before it is rented. I get that Belgium has a thing for buying your linen, but they knew I was one person and outfitted all three beds and lots of towels. Lastly, they kept trying to charge me to take out the garbage but...

"This is a very new apartment with all new and modern appliances and finishings. It’s a wonderful space and perfectly central to everything in the city. It lacks a few things that are important however. Such as a towel holder in the toilet and bathroom, a shelf in the shower. There is plumbing downstairs for a 2nd toilet which we felt was very needed. Also during our stay was 26-30 degrees C. Without a/c, or fans, we had to open the windows day and night. Unfortunately it lets all the mosquitos...
