The BirdDog Farm Cabin #5
The Birddog Farm Welcome to the Birddog Farm. The farm is our dream and we are proof that it is never too late in life to act on a big, shake you out of your comfort zone, dream. The name Birddog was our pet name for our beloved Black Lab Mix, Birdie. She was given a golfing name as she was rescued by the golf maintenance man from our local golf course. There were two beautiful sisters approximately 12 weeks old being dumped in a shopping mall parking lot. I tell you this as Birdie was our first dog we adopted as a family. She was there for it all. She grew in to be the matriarch and welcomed all that came into the house, human as well as animal. She sized everyone up, checked everyone out as the protector she was. Every wayward stray she took under her wing and in her old age when you thought she could handle no more, she always seemed to garner the strength to nurture one more, though maybe with slightly less patience. Her love for all of us was so unconditional words could never describe. For her incredible life we named our Farm and commit to take all that come to enjoy the gifts that nature has to offer under our wings. This beautiful Hollow of 59+ acres is The BirdDog Farm. We have lived here since March of 2018 and hope we can remain, God willing, till it is our time to leave this earth or he makes other plans for us. Our family has always made room in our home for as many as wanted or needed to come and we have been blessed by each and everyone….even those last minute unexpected arrivals. We have 5 Newly finished Country Cabins on the property each with private on-suite bathrooms and rocking chair front porches. You can rent 1, 2, etc. or all 5. The 5th cabin is our largest cabin and can be used as a dual purpose gathering room with a small kitchenette as well as sleeping accommodations. WHEN BOOKING MORE THAN 1 CABIN, THEY WILL NEED TO EACH BE BOOKED SEPARATELY. Each room is outfitted with a Queen Size Bed with Memory Soft Mattresses, high quality linens, Wi-Fi, Flat Screened TV's, Coffee/Beverage Bars, Toasters, Kitchen Supplies (Stoneware, Utensils, Glassware), Mini Frig/Freezer, Microwaves, Irons, Hairdryers, USB Charging Ports, 1 set of walkie talkies, binoculars for viewing the abundance of wildlife, smoke detectors, and dry chemical fire extinguishers. Property has a 1 acre lake that is fully stocked with large mouth bass, catfish, and Blue Gill. We have plenty of fishing poles to share. Walkies Talkies can be used to contact the main house or each other as you set out to hike the property, walk down to the neighboring Alpaca Farm, or simply for fun. Outdoor Grills and picnic tables are provided for cooking and eating. Property has a firepit for those chilly evenings or roasting marshmallows ***weather permitting******. We also have corn hole boards, plenty of board games for evening fun, and of course plenty of jars for catching fire flies. Cabins are also stocked with bug repellent, anti itch gel, and first aid kits. Since we are out in the country, the owner provides a selection of complimentary snacks/fruit and additional snacks and drinks that can be purchased on the honor system in each room. If you would like for your cabin to be stocked with specific types of snacks/meals/beverages, just let us know ahead of your arrival and we will have those here for you at a reasonable fee.
We are located about 50 minutes from Nashville and 15 minutes from Cordell Hull Reservoir/Defeated Creek Marina. Fisherman's paradise for Lg & Small Mouth Bass. The farm has room for the boats/trailers and a place for you to plug into. Each cabin will also have a marina pass to get you into the swimming area and boat ramp. There are many other things to do locally and still close enough to Nashville to take in the sights and sounds of music city. Each room has a list of attractions, recommended local eateries, watering holes, etc. If you need help planning a day trip just let us know in advance and we'll help you out.
We welcome you as one of our many blessings and invite you to enjoy our home and the beauty of the nature that surrounds it. We hope to share many of our crazy family stories and the opportunity to listen to yours as well. We hope you will enjoy your stay here at the BirdDog Farm and we welcome you back as often as you would like to come. With Our Warm Regards, The Kemp Family Terry, JoAnne, Jessie, Tanner, Driver, Ally, Possum, Caddy, Wesson (West), Gabby, Breezy, & Sergeant

Our cozy cabin was very comfortable, quiet, and well equipped. Very clean. And the surrounding property was just beautiful. Nicely maintained too. It was so peaceful we would have liked to stay longer. We saw deer every day. JoAnne & Terry were super nice. Terry met us at the turnoff into the farm to make sure we found our way, as the road can be a little confusing. JoAnne was quick to respond to messages, though we really never needed anything. We look forward to our next stay there.
Awesome property. Stayed here for a couple of days just to chill. Went out to Defeated for hiking and boating. Plenty of places nearby for conveniences if you need them. Saw a ton of deer and other wildlife. Excellent hosts...
If you are looking for the perfect getaway to unwind, this is it! This rural setting is a step away from the hustle and bustle of life! The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. You can porch sit in peace and quiet all while taking in the beautiful views.
We saw rabbits, groundhogs, turkeys and more deer than we could count during our stay. We will definitely stay here when returning to the area.
My mom and I came to the area for a wedding. This was the perfect little getaway. Jessie checked us in and she was extremely accomodating! The cabin was clean and very cozy. The baked goods were an amazing treat! And the water pressure in the shower was incredible.
If we ever come back to this area we will be back!.
Our trip to this place was great. The place was very well taken care of. We didn't do anything except just enjoy the place. We just wanted a good place to get away and we found it. We had a great weekend talking to visitors and the host. We can't wait to go back.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this little cabin in the hills of Tennessee. Cabin was secluded and a perfect place to relax as we visited family in the area. Host was welcoming and extremely helpful in navigating the area. She even ordered up a White Christmas for our visit.
We would certainly stay here again on future trips to the area.
We all enjoyed our stay at the Gem tucked away from the hustle and bustle of life .
Will definitely like to return in the Fall to sit by the fire and admire the beauty of this place .
The hosts were simply marvelous and helpful in every way . Thank you to both !
Our goal on this trip was to get away somewhere peaceful. Birddog farm is exactly what we needed! The location is perfect! Joanne and her family were so kind and their customer service was the bes I've ever encountered! The cabin was cute and cozy and the surrounding woods/pond was beautiful!! We definatley plan on returning in a month or so!!
The property was amazing to see. Serene, quite and peaceful. Owners were very kind and if I needed anything. They were just a walkie talkie away. Local people where very inviting and pleasant to converse with. I will be staying again and I would highly recommend booking with them.
My Hubby and I live very busy lives and we were in desperate need of a relaxing weekend to basically hide from the world! This place delivered plus SO MUCH MORE. Every aspect of this farm and cabins is done with thought and love. It is an oasis.
A beautiful piece of property with wonderful and personable owners. The amenities were second to none with a classic and personal touch. We will definitely return as soon as we can arrange it. A great place for children and families to decompress. A definite must see to truly appreciate. The Heitjan family.
We stayed in cabin #5 that was spacious and beautifully furnished. The cabin was clean, orderly and overall comfortable like home. The hosts were friendly, accommodating and helpful with activities we could plan. The location is far back in a hollow nestled with beautiful forest greenery and fields. It’s very peaceful. The nights are dark and quiet which offered a change from city life. We will be back!
We met Joann and her husband, both are extremely helpful and cater to your needs. Check in and check extremely easy. They have thought of everything. Plenty of snacks if you forgot yours all in the honor system at reasonable prices. Very clean Bed is great with quality sheets and a couple comfortable chairs with ottoman’s. We were in cabin 5. Location is private and very quiet. Beautiful part of Tennessee
Nashville locals. Took a weekend trip out here and could NOT have had a better experience! The property owners went above and beyond to ensure our stay was incredible. It’s a great place for those looking to escape the city for the weekend. Internet in the cabins is blazing fast so you can stay connected when you’re not out exploring. There’s a great fire pit, land to explore and views that are amazing!! If you’re looking for a place to unplug, not be bothered and really slow life down this is the spot!! 10/10 no question!!
Joanne the owner of the property met us and showed us the property and allowed us to roam freely on their property, they provided way more than the necessities in the cabin and on the property! It was a great experience and we will be returning!
We had a fantastic long weekend. The farm is very much away from the rest of the world but still within a short drive to some great food as well as some beautiful sights. We visited the alpaca farm just around the corner as well as a local waterfall and of course Cordell Hull reservoir. The best part is the beauty of the hills and the quiet relaxation they offer. The cabin (#5) was great and nicely done. No cell service (also great, heh) but fiber internet in the cabin. JoAnne and Terry are fantastic hosts. Can fully recommend a stay and will most likely be a repeat customer.
