Bear Lake with View Guest House, Above Garage in Beautiful St. Charles
8/10 Good
"Nice little spot for a family of 6 or less. Needs a new coffee pot and supplies for kitchen. A little dusty in spots. Otherwise, a comfortable little spot. "
Mini Cabins Lodge-Hot Tub! AC! Arcades! Air Hockey and Foosball!
10/10 Excellent
"Check-in flawless, with door code texted day before. Wi-Fi not great. Plenty of parking. Best stocked kitchen in any vacay rental I’ve ever been in. I would absolutely stay again provided the few changes I mentioned to the owner were made. I loved the open space idea. We were a group of 4 adults/4dogs. With all the 4-leggeds it was nice to have open kitchen/family room and lots of lawn outside to which to walk dogs and tether them. The lodge I suspect is meant to be a gathering place for families who stay in the smaller cabins in addition to the lodge itself. as there were tons of chairs, eating surfaces, plates, bowls, 2 fridges, 2 washing machines/dryers inside the lodge-much more than was necessary for those staying only in the lodge. The location to North Beach couldn’t be beat - 7 minutes. The location to dog-friendly beaches at Sage Springs and Mountain Fawn Day Use Area on East side of lake - 20 minutes (unless it’s a Saturday morning in the summer. Then you’re stuck in 15 more minutes of North Beach traffic. Location to Pickleville Playhouse-20 minutes. Word of caution: As kid-friendly as the upstairs bedroom and arcade loft may be, the only way to get up there is by a steep metal spiral staircase, slippery in socks, not suitable for Littles or those unstable on their feet. 3 of the 4 dogs were able to clamber up the spiral. And, the loft and upstairs bedroom get hot. An in-window air conditioner could solve the prob. Hose outside useful to clear sand."
cozy older home for rent very close to the north beach of Bear lake
6/10 Okay
"I wish I could just love this property but I can't. The property does not have lush green grass it's all dead. The house is advertised as a/c but it's only the main floor and most of the bedrooms are upstairs so it didn't cool down until late in the night. The 2nd bathroom has no hot water hooked up so it's really only a 1 bath home. It does sleep 14 but that's a lot of people for 1 shower. The dryer wasn't working so we tried to check the lint but the cover was broken, with some prying we got it off and found over an inch thick of lint. We did a sweep of the place before we left to get any sand we brought in out and we had piles of animal fur and we did not bring any animals so cleanliness wasn't superb. Location wise it is really great and close. Would we stay here again possibly but we would be knowing what we are getting into since the description isn't accurate. I wouldn't stay here in the heat of July again without better AC and it would have been great to know there is really only 1 functioning bath. The host offered 15% off because of the dead grass and a change in furniture but when I said we would accept after getting there and finding only one working bath I received no response/communication from the host and did not receive 15% off as offered."
"We had another wonderful stay in Bear Lake! This was our second time staying in this house and we loved it just as much as last summer. The proximity to North Beach is awesome and the house is very clean and well-appointed. The huge backyard is perfect for lawn games and we really appreciated being able to borrow a paddleboard. We hope to return next summer!"
"This is the perfect cabin if you need a place to just hang between other activities at the lake and in other things to do. It is super close to North Beach and a great place to just sleep and watch a little TV."
