"Lovely views & garden. Steep but short walk to bay down the road where can swim & a nice cafe. Easy bus ride into town if you don’t have a car. Breakfast very good. Pool seen better days but ok for some laps. The staff are all amazing from the waiters to the spa staff - massive shout out to all of them - they all made out stay! Also near the coastal path to walk into town so we loved the location"
"Lovely location overlooking Cobo Bay, with sparking sand, crystal blue waters offering fabulous evening sunsets.
Our room had a balcony on the front overlooking the bay which was lovely, the balcony is open to the adjacent rooms, we found it surprising that smoking was permitted on the balconies, which was not appreciated, but you find in Guernsey smoking outside in public areas seems to be permitted/the norm?!
Staff are excellent, I cannot rate them highly enough… always smiley, happy, polite, helpful. They work very hard all day/night and the hotel runs like clockwork. So nice to see well presented matching tidy uniforms being worn.
Housekeeping staff were also superb, cleanliness/servicing of room was to an excellent, top notch standard.
Breakfast also excellent choice, standard of produce, all very tasty. As was the restaurant menu.
The room we had was small but well presented. A super king bed was appreciated however far too much unnecessary furniture included which made the room even smaller to manoeuvre.
There were two dining chairs in the room which I put out on the balcony as were not required as we had two comfy rattan chairs on the balcony. As the bed was so big I had to shimmy sideways between the end of the bed and dressing table! But better than having a small bed I suppose! Bathroom was well presented, well equipped.
Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel but I doubt I would return as it’s somewhat spoilt by the very busy noisy road in front!"
"Staff helpful and friendly. Hotel set in lovely grounds and clean . Bedroom clean and housekeeping every day . Breakfast was really good. Evening meals in the bar were fab and delicious. So was lunch.
We didn’t have a car so we used the local buses which were on time and a good way to get into town centre as well as visiting local beaches on the island and the fare was reasonable £2.00 to anywhere .
Would like to mention one staff member the Conceirge Darlington who was most helpful . Very friendly and advised where to visit etc"
"Just returned from a three night stay at The Duke Hotel and loved it. The staff are welcoming, attentive and friendly. The hotel is short walk from the town centre and bus terminal which made getting about easy.
The room was clean, comfortable and well laid out with plenty of storage. the bed was comfortable, and made up every day by housekeeping. Aircon was welcome in the heat!
We used the heated pool at the Hotel which was lovely. Towels and robes are provided to make things easier.
The bar area and terrace was lovely with reasonable prices. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as we like to go out but the menu looked good. Breakfast was fabulous with plenty of choice.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return."
"Room was great. Food was good although menu a little limited.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Did have issue with fridge that was reported and checked during the stay but wasn't fixed.
Overall a good relaxed break."
"A good hotel with lovely views and garden. Staff helpful and friendly. Hot water system a bit suspect. Meals very good but no variation. Other resteraunts"
"We stayed in the cottage suite which was very spacious and comfortable. We had a kitchen with a fridge, microwave, cooker and oven which meant we did not eat out all the time during our one week stay. The hotel is very conveniently located in central St Peter Port. We found all the staff very helpful but wondered why our room was serviced in the late afternoon every day just as we were returning from our day out and ready for a shower etc. It was extremely hot while we were here and the air conditioning was a little overwhelmed so the room was very hot despite keeping the curtains and blinds closed. We had a great holiday and will be back."
