The Wood Norton

"The building and grounds are stunning. Gorgeous setting, but the food, amenities and service standards don't quite live up to the visual expectation. The michelin- starred chef who has written the menu is as close to michelin starred as the place will be, I'm afraid. The food was fine, but not glorious. The service was a little haphazard, would have been so much better if done with some interest or a smile (except for the lovely chap in the bar, who was very good, remembered people's drinks, asked if he could do any more etc). The pool table was a welcome attraction (it has a definite slope and is positioned too close to one wall). The gym is stuck in a building used as a store, not kept clean and mostly forgotten. This could be so much more of a feature. Having to pay £25 each to use the pool next door is a liberty. I don't know why they don't extol the history of the building and it's various uses which would be of great interest to visitors. But the most troublesome aspect were the moths and wasps in the corridor in Pear Tree Mews, which were reported, but nothing done about them. Leaving lights on and windows open was a mistake. Overall, a lovely venue, the rooms are nice (could do with plugs near the bed) , but needs to raise its profile to meet its splendour"

"We had a few days away with our 5 (young adult) grandchildren. As we just wanted a relaxing few days the Nait was ideal. Adequate parking and lovely property. We went to "The Valley" to play crazy golf on one of the days which we all enjoyed - the rest of the time we made use of the facilities and enjoyed the hot tub and access to the river for fishing."

"We booked a room in this hotel today to an event which was down the road. It was very convenient for that event. We were able to get a taxi to and from the event from the hotel when we bought our room with friends you’d also put there we booked a Lakeview room and three days before we were due to arrive we would advise that our room have been double booked and there wasn’t a room for us. They did put us in the Airbnb flat next door had issues entering that flat several times opening the door and coming out of the door one evening we went to reception and got a very let’s put it this way not a very nice guy on reception who was very helpful made out that we were stupid and we just couldn’t open the door the flat was amazing. It was massive had its own dining room room small so very warm with the heat wave. We also mentioned that the shower temperature dropped from hot to cold instantly in the flat when we reported this to reception again, we were basically told that it must be our operating issues. Not a sorry about that. We’re looking into it when we return from our event we couldn’t get into the flat again we there was nobody on reception we had to go to an event wedding that was in the area to try and find a manager to help us out again very attitude and rude there is an event that we go to every year so we would like to come back to here hopefully in one of the Lakeview rooms that we originally booked the ladies on reception that did contact Me did sort me out an alterna"
