Small and very friendly pub with rooms which we chose for it’s convenient position close to a wedding we were attending. Great breakfast and food available at other times.
The landlord and landlady and staff were all amazing nothing was to much bother. Went out of there to make the stay very special. The food was outstanding along with the service,
Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Warm, homely country pub feel with lively local feel.
Good food and drink, clean simple rooms, and good value. What more do you want really ?
Very friendly hosts and staff. Excellent food and nothing was too much trouble. We loved the community spirit that Lloyd and Kirsty promote and are succeeding with at the Halfway House. They were also very knowledgeable about the area and were able to make great suggestions re where to visit etc.
We had a quick overnight stop here , so we didn’t take advantage of the pub, but it looked great . The owner was very welcoming as well as the dining staff. We really enjoyed our dinner, excellent food . We left too early in the morning to have breakfast.

Fantastic hosts in Lloyd and Kirsty. Room and bed was comfortable. Decoration just needs refresh and lurve with paintwork as the room would warrant a better rate per night
The proprietors were welcoming and very helpful with dietary intolerances. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable. The food was tasty and plentiful, proper food, not that novelle cuisiine nonsense. The beer was well-brewed and truly tasty. The parking was a bit cramped but nothing that any reasonably competent driver could not cope with. We would definitely stay there again.
The staff were all polite very helpful there was a festival being held with music in the garden which was excellent. On arrival parking was difficult because of it but the staff found me parking really considerate .my fish and chips great with home made tatare sauce and minted mushy peas . Breakfast very good . Room clean bed comfy .only thing was the window looked into cottage over the road so felt needed to draw curtains to change ect
Pretty sure the dog opposite could see me and me him.not keen on net but a little half way or slatted blind would let light in .
The location was very easy to find, parking out the front (although not alot so might struggle if it’s busy). They called in advance to ask if we wanted food as we arrived later than expected which was fantastic service. Check in was very prompt and easy! Nice clean simple rooms! Exactly what we needed for a good nights stay, good tea and coffee facilities and they provided a flask of milk which was lovely as normally you get those horrible UHT things. Great shower! Quite a homely little place, everything was a little crooked or slightly uneven but that’s the characteristics of the building! The stairs leading upto the rooms could do with a clean but I understand your in a rural area so that’s to be expected! Overall I was very happy would recommend and will potentially look to stay there again if we are down that neck of the woods. If your fussy and are looking for the four seasons then not for you but if you want some where clean, comfy, easily accessible and a great price then I would highly recommend. Ps breakfast isn’t served until 9 so if your off early like we were then bring something with you!
Staff were friendly, room is very outdated and had a strange smell. Beds were average, shower was good. Breakfast in the morning wasn’t fantastic, we paid £120 for one night stay with breakfast but not sure it’s quite worth that to be honest. Wouldn’t stay here again.
Generally a place I'd recommend if holidaying and you've got nowhere to be in the morning.
Check-in was friendly, in fact the staff were excellent all through, the room was comfortable although being on a main road it is noisy if you want windows open, bathroom basic, dinner was great with a good menu and wide choice and finally there was a good atmosphere in the bar.
What I don't think is acceptable is selling b&b packages when they won't serve breakfast before 9.00am. I've been staying in hotels 3 nights a week for over 20 years and never come across this. And they don't warn you before arrival. To the owners, 9.00am is too late, most establishments are winding up breakfast by 9.00 not just starting it! My understanding was that night all guests were leaving before breakfast.
Their solution to this is to make a bacon or sausage sandwich and leave it outside your door the night before. I requested they let me know when it was delivered so I could at least get it off the floor and into my room.
Please, please warn guests at the point of booking that you don't serve breakfast at breakfast time!

Lovely little inn with lovely people running it. Undergoing refurbishment. Spot on for one night stay
Excellent food and a very clean, small single room- perfect for my needs. The staff were helpful and friendly- I had an awkward request about breakfast and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. The pub itself is an ordinary village pub - it didn’t look its best for me, in the dark and the pouring rain! If I am in the area again I will certainly return.
