"The hotel was terrible. We were supposed to stay seven nights. We only lasted 3 nights. Our room was never cleaned despite our requests. It was 27.5 degrees in the room while it was 25 degrees outside. Impossible to air out the room. On top of that, this hotel had the bright idea of placing our room next to a noisy road, even though we were staying 7 nights and were entitled to a quieter room with the possibility of airing it out. As with most large old Hotels on the coast a little tired and in need of some TLC but good value for money considering breakfast included and Bar with a view onto the promenade and large outdoor seating area. Large parking area for additional £6 per day."

"The room was lovely and the offer of a free drink in the bar in exchange for no housekeeping is clever. Such a good idea. Unfortunately the wedding in the hotel on Saturday night dominated all the communal areas of the hotel which meant that we couldn’t have the nightcap in the bar we were hoping for, as well as there being the thumping of the music from the wedding in our room until well after 11pm. Had we known yet the bar area would be pretty much out of action to other guests we might have chosen to stay elsewhere."

"This is a lovely old fashioned-feeling, quirky hotel with a great atmosphere. It is in a great location in the heart of Totnes. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and all our meals were tasty with decent portions. The staff members, without exception, were cheerful, helpful and welcoming. Parking is tight with there being only a small car park so other parking options may need to be considered before arrival."
