Bass Lake waterfront cottage close to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes!

Whitetail Cottage is located on Bass Lake just 10 minutes from Traverse City and about 30 minutes from the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Bass Lake is an all-sports lake, but best suited for fishing and kayaking. The cottage is located on 500 feet of sandy beach frontage. A gas grill is on the deck overlooking the beach. There is a fire pit with four chairs just for guests of Whitetail. Two kayaks are available for renters to use for free and we also have two paddle boards that can be rented by the day. Two child size kayaks are available upon request.

The cottage has two bedrooms with queen beds and two bathrooms. There is a strict 4 person limit due to township rules. The upstairs bathroom has a tub and the downstairs bathroom has a newly renovated, walk-in shower. The upstairs, where bedrooms are located, has lower than standard ceilings, so if you are more than 6 feet tall, please consider renting here carefully.

Unfortunately, we don't allow guests to have pets, however, the property owners have a few doodles that frequent the beach area. They love people and will want to come and say hi at some point, guaranteed! While Traverse City is well known for its summer festivals and restaurants, easy access to a quiet lake and a beautiful trail system right out of your backyard is the real gem. Our proximity to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore makes our location perfect for those seeking beauty, freshwater beaches, and gorgeous vistas. We have something for everyone! Lakefront properties go fast, so act fast.

The perfect get away!

This was the perfect place for our friend weekend getaway. The house is right on the lake, which was so perfect and serene. Location is close to downtown Traverse City and Sleeping Bear dune. Jodi was super responsive to our messages and questions - we look forward to staying here again.

The cabin location was fanastic, right on the lake. Bass lake was quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed the kayaks and my son loved fishing on the dock. The house was clean and rustic. The neighborhood was private and felt safe. We enjoyed adventuring around TC and other surrounding areas. The host was easy to communicate with. We enjoyed our stay!

This place is amazing, the beach was wonderful, everything was what we expected. They had the most amazing fireworks for the 4th, they did did not dissapoint us at all. Beautiful property and great time

We had a blast. Cute clean cabin with everything you need. We did a lot of fun activities in the area but our kids kept wanting to go back to this cabin so we could fish, kayak, swim. Had no problems during our stay. Beds are so comfortable. Love the big walk in shower downstairs. We spent so much time just sitting in the chairs looking out at the beautiful lake.

Relaxing get away

Just what we wanted. Relaxing get away cabin with the ability to fish right in front of the property. Very quiet at night. Perfect if you want to curl up with a book or if you want to kayak on the lake. We caught bass, perch and bluegill from our kayaks. Recommend bringing fishing gear if you like to fish.

Cozy house by Bass Lake

This was our second stay on Bass Lake, but first in this location. We really appreciated having access to a beach and kayaks, plus the fire pit was excellent. The house has all the things you would want for a long stay, plus the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, and utensils. The owners were attentive and friendly, and made us feel welcome. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent again. P.S. I recommend bringing a pitcher-type water filter with you. Its a little bit more convenient than buying water by the gallon.

Great little cottage with a view!

This is a great small cottage with a lovely lake view. Well equipped kitchen and the washer-dryer is a bonus. Very quiet and peaceful area of Bass Lake. This is not a swimming lake, but it is pretty to look at. We enjoyed our coffee on the deck every morning. Jody is quick to respond and a helpful host. My only request would be to clean the windows so that beautiful view shines through!
