Loved being on a small lake and taking advantage of it being spacious and not over populated. Not to far from Lake Michigan and nearby towns was a bonus as well.

Excellent place for a relaxing vacation
We really enjoyed our stay there. The cabin was perfectly clean, fully furnished with all utensil and tools you might need and located in a beautiful and quiet place with astonishing trout lake view. Especially, the sunset is absolutely amazing. The owner is really caring and ensures everything is in shape during the stay. I really recommend this place for a relaxing vacation and will rent it certainly again if I want to visit UP.
We were looking for a getaway vacation that allowed us maintain distance from people but still provide lots of fun and Trout Lake delivered! The house was perfect with its own little private beach, lots of room to relax and just be. We will definitely be back.

Great cottage! Clean, comfortable, and convenient location!
We loved the cottage! It is so up northy! The cottage was so clean and comfy and very well stocked with everything needed for a great stay. The weather was perfect . We enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake, campfires, The Buckhorn, and being so close to the ORV trails. We hope to come again.
My husband and I enjoyed another wonderful stay at this cozy cottage. This cottage is well stocked with everything needed for a great stay. We had fun riding the trails, watching beautiful sunsets, and sitting by the bon fire. We hope to do it again next fall!
This was the perfect place to get away from everyone and everything. Very beautiful and very clean. They have everything you ended up forgetting. I will definitely be renting this property again for later vacations.
We love coming to Trout Lake. The kids swam or fished most of the days. We did not have to leave unless we wanted to. Very clean and well stocked cottage. Books for the littles, games, hammock and swing. Perfect! We look forward to our next stay.

Fine log home with waterfront views.
My wife and I spend two weeks in early September in this very fine log home. The home was immaculate and well maintain. The view of the lake and surrounding area was simply beautiful. One additional benefit of this property was its proximity to Mackinac Island, Sault Ste. Marie, Pictured Rocks and the Taquamanon Falls.

Incredible! The cabin was clean, roomy and well stocked for our family of six. We had a blast fishing, swimming, boating, resting and touring around the UP. There are not enough thanks in the world to express our gratitude to Ken for sharing his little piece of Heaven.

Awesome cabin
Everything was provided. It was centrally located to everything we wanted to do in the area. The lake was beautiful. The nearby town was super friendly. They even have a rowboat and a canoe. So much fun to use! The 3 bedroom cabin also has 1 and a half bathroom, which was nice for 4 of us being there for a week.

Love this cabin!
Our family loves this cabin! This was our second year here- and the weather cooperated better this time. Trout Lake is a pleasant place- McGowan's on Friday night is the place to eat. The cabin is wonderful, rustic, up-north feel. My favorite part of the day is walking downstairs in the morning to look out the front window over the lake, birch trees, and hammock. Gorgeous! Thanks Ken for your hospitality- calling to make sure everything is alright. This is a great location- day trips in the UP this year to the Soo, scenic highway 2, and Mac Island.

Four Years and Counting
Have stayed at the log home located on Trout Lake for four straight years. The place is stocked with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Upon arrival the housekeeping is immaculant. We choose to stay in the fall and the leaves are beautiful. If you gaze upon the lake the nearby hillside's reflection can be seen. Go out at night and the stars will take your breath away. Enjoy the solitude of this treasure in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.

Perfect vacation location in the U.P.
Spent a wonderful week at this beautiful log cabin with my family which included myself, my husband and our two young children. This cabin was in a perfect location to get out and enjoy day trips around the U.P., but also great to just stay there and fish, swim, relax, etc. The cabin was very spacious, peaceful and well cared for. Everything that you think you may need or forgot to bring, seemed to be in the cabin. You don't even need to bring the kids toys. Our kids loved playing with the "new" toys at the cabin. Ken and Patt were awesome hosts, very helpful and kind. We will definitely be returning!

What a wonderfull cabin. ...
What a wonderfull cabin. It was everything we expected plus more. You wanted to wipe your feet every time you entered the cabin, and we did. We loved the authentic log structure along with a great view of the lake. We didn't have children with us, however they would have loved the large shallow, clean and sandy swim area. We mostly laid back and relaxed, however there were enough fish caught for a couple large fish fries. Thanks Ken, and we'll most likely be back and will highly recommend to my family and friends. Perfect getaway for young family!
We set out in January to find a place to rent where we could just relax with our four children under the age of 9 (not an easy task!) and that is exactly what we found with this little piece of heaven! The cabin is perfectly located for day trips to sites such as Soo Locks, Taqhuamenon, and Mackinaw. The beach at the cabin, however was our favorite site of the entire week. The sandy beach was perfect for little kids and the lake is fairly shallow, so we were never worried about their safety. They had a blast jumping and fishing off the dock. The lake is very quiet, but the few interactions that we had with the neighbors were extremely friendly. The cabin itself is loaded with anything you could ever need on vacation from games to towels. And working with Ken and Patt was an absolute delight. I would recommend this place to everyone! Thanks Ken and Patt for a perfect week!

Perfect place to spend some time away!
Within hours of settling in, we were already planning our next trip. If we were to have a place of our own, this would check all of the boxes and then some. The owners were very thorough in their instructions of using the cabin, and had everything you could need for an extended stay and then some. Things I would never expect from a vacation rental. My wife and I went with our 6 year old son and he had a great time; going fishing, boat rides (on the owners rental boat), hanging out by the fire and grilling our meals in the well manicured and spacious yard. The house itself was very clean and well cared for, and every appliance and utility worked great. Even had laundry available to use so we had no dirty laundry to bring home with us which is always nice!
The lake was quiet, we only saw one other boat out the entire time, probably because we were a little earlier to arrive for the season than most.
Overall we had absolutely 0 complaints or things we would change about our stay and the property. Will be back soon!

A True Getaway!
My wife and I wanted to do "a whole bunch of nothing" on this vacation. It was quite easy to relax in this well appointed log home. We went on 3 day trips during our 8 day stay but also enjoyed the peace and quiet. The boat and motor was perfect for our every-night sunset tour of the lake, and it was just right for a pan full of perch and bluegill for our last dinner. The Soo Locks and lunch at The Antlers was a fun diversion, as was the quick look at Upper Tahq Falls. First peek at Cedarville and lunch in Hessel were pretty easy to take as well. Back at the cottage, the view out the 3 large picture windows was eye candy every day - which were sunny by the way, with only 20 minutes of rain all week - and another highlight was seeing the two sandhill cranes right at the edge of the road 5 minutes north of town one morning. We both felt more like guests in a friend's home rather than renters due to the warmth and charm of the place. Large and spacious with plenty of room for a group - we didn't need the 2 bedrooms or half bath upstairs but they were inviting! Only complaint was the loon that got a bit loud one afternooon ;-) Thanks Ken!
What an awesome cabin located on a beautiful lake! Our stay here couldn’t have been any better. The owners were lovely. They left complete information relating to the cabin itself and extra info regarding the surrounding area. The cottage itself had absolutely everything we could have possibly needed and more! It was located centrally to all of the UP attractions that we visited (Pictured Rocks, Soo Locks, Tahquamenon Falls, Mackinac Island). If you’re looking for a rental that truly deserves 5 stars, look no further! We hope we are able to visit again soon.
We had such a wonderful time at this property. We brought our 6 kids, ranging in age from 3-17. There was plenty of space, the yard is huge, and the sandy beach was great for spending hours on! It is within driving time of so many neat sightseeing opportunities, too. Thanks for the use of such a wonderful place!
