Station House Inn - Near Heavenly Gondola

10/10 Excellent

"The location of the Station House Inn was great. The pool and hot tub were an added benefit. There was a slight inconsistency in the quality of the staff. Some of the front desk people were awesome, and others were not. There was also an inconsistency in the pass for the Lakeshore Beach. One front-desk person gave a woman a free pass, but we had to pay $15 each. That made me feel a little weird. By the way, Lakeshore Beach access is worth the $15 if you want to enjoy a sandy beach and maybe a dip in the lake; however, I would NOT go to the grill. The food was terrible and overpriced. We ordered a watermelon salad and shrimp tacos. They were out of the mozzarella for the salad, so it was just a big bag of Costco kale salad mix with a few pieces of watermelon ($25), and the cook did not de-vein the shrimp (gross), and the tacos were drowning in a chipotle mayo sauce ($25). I also found the service to be lacking, but that seemed to be common in Lake Tahoe. Overpriced food and bad wait staff."

"We stayed 1 night at this pet friendly hotel. The front desk staff was friendly and polite, and check- in was easy. The suite 206 had a good layout with a bedroom, living room , a small kitchen and pull out sofa. Rooms were nice size and worked well for us. The downside: the rooms and the buildind felt dated and old, and the buildinds are not connected. Breakfast was okay. Good for a basic overnight stay with pets."

"I'm sure if I stayed the winter and skiid the location was perfect as it is right at the base of Heavenly resort. But I came at the end of May so it felt a little off the beaten path. No onsite restaurant which was a bummer, but not the end of the world. Well appointed rooms that felt more like an apartment than a hotel. Would have liked more water pressure from the shower head."

"This was by far the worst hotel experience we've had. The rooms were terrible. Run down , dirty, falling apart and not working and lamps had broken switches or just missing so not working at all. At first we got a room and the AC was not working. The room was at 80 degrees and the compressor apperstly wasn't working so the maintance staff said that it would take too long to fix the unit so just to asked to be moved. So we hauled all of our items back down to the lobby and told them about the issue. Then we got another room and it was worst. The AC unit was falling off the wall, the toilet bowl was dirty with what seem was actual dirt and permanently stained , the bathroom corners were falling apart too and even the bathtube was stained and dirty. So we then later in the day went back to the lobby and explained the issues again. They then said we could move again this time to the new tower. Which was further out of the main lobby and at that point we were just too tired and too upset at the thought of again hauling ALL of our luggage again for a third time so we just kept the horrible room. I would not recommend this hotel at all for anyone. They said they were updating it soon but still are having people stay in these horrible rooms."
