Obviously the nostalgia of The Sylvia is a welcome draw. We love going there. Watching the sunset on the beach every night is a must. Breakfasts in the dining room with Cindy serving is the best morning start. Will stay here again on next visit.

The Sylvia hotel is an important part of Vancouver's history. If you stay in a "modern" hotel, you may experience a high level of luxury, but the hotel is vapid. It is in and out. The Sylvia is a place where there are always friendly people at the front desk to greet you, where the waiters in the restaurant are always efficient, and where you meet interesting folks in the elevator. The restaurant's breakfast is excellent. I ate supper in the bar and loved the service, but the wine list is pretty boring. We have so many excellent Okanagan wines, but the out-of-town tourist would never know. All told, The Sylvia is a special place, with a great view of English Bay.

I love the Sylvia Hotel! I first visited in 1952 (Dined in the Sky!!) first stay in 1965 and many many times since There is nothing I can honestly think of that I would change The atmosphere. the location, the staff. the food and drink. rooms. old school elevators all that and more! In a perfect world I would spend every late afternoon in the lower lounge by the wind sitting with my wife watching the world go by with a glass of red wine in my hand. Thanks for the memories!! the

Very nice location and eight at the English bay. You can easily do afternoon hike around the beach, walk south to the false creek ferry and hop on the water taxi to Granville island or walk north directly to Stanley park. Beautiful sunset at sunset beach with live music, great summer vibe. Easy Walking to Robson street for shopping and many great eatery options. A bit hot in summer night without air conditioning so expect to use the room fan. Overall a great hotel with full history, beautiful architecture while a bit dated facility.
