"There are B&Bs you stay in that feel very corporate and then there are places like this one. It is family owned and operated, and the owners make you feel like family while you are there. They and their two daughters were happy to show you the property they renovated during Covid and worked so hard to turn into a beautiful little part of France. The location is convenient to Carcassonne and there are dining options there. This is located in the country so you'll need to travel into the city...

"We only stayed for one night before a morning flight from Carcassonne but wish we could have stayed longer!
Our hosts went out of their way to make us comfortable without being intrusive. The house looks like something from the pages of a posh interior design magazine. We had a balcony to enjoy a glass of wine. Restaurants, supermarkets and the rail station are all a few minutes walk. And our host's baking skills made breakfast an absolute treat - you'll notice the delicious smells wafting...

"Close to center of town and also to the castle. Both a short walk, parking can be challenging so leave your car and just walk from your stay. Breakfast included, and host Catherine was super helpful with our heavy luggage."

"We thoroughly enjoyed are stay! The pool and AC were a welcome relief from the heat. The hosts were excellent and we loved hearing about the work they’ve done to the house and the history of the delicious cassoulet they served up in the evening. I wish we’d stayed for longer."

"I don't understand the negative reviews for this hotel. I thought the hotel was very clean, which is my number one concern. The decor of the hotel was fun. The hotel itself is well-maintained. The staff was very professional, friendly, and helpful.
Our room had an ocean view, which some on-line guests complained about not being able to see the beach, but you do have a view of the water, the tops of some red-tiled houses, and Nice in the distance. We actually spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony, watching the boats and sunset, for which you have a reasonable view.
The beach is about a 15-minute walk but is absolutely stunning. You can also catch the train at the bottom of the hill and quickly be in Monaco or Nice. There are also some really great Patisseries and a very good grocery store nearby, which has fresh-baked bread near the checkout.
Parking was not straightforward, but we figured it out. The hotel has no parking, despite what the Expedia web page says. Guests park at the public lot nearby, where you do have to pay during the day (free at night). It's hard to find a spot there during the day, having to wait a 5 or so minutes until someone leaves, but the lot clears out in the late afternoon and evening, with enough free spaces. Parking was a little inconvenient but not as bad as in a larger city..
Compared with other hotels in the area, this hotel is a good price. It would be hard to find another hotel this nice for the price along the Riviera."
"Room was lovely and clean although the colour scheme was a little bright and garish for everyone’s taste. It did have the majority of extras such as hairdryer, toiletries etc but would have benefited from tea/coffee making.
It was great to have a pool which was really lovely and well maintained although you had to cross a road, and go around the hotel to access it as some rooms are in a separate building to the main hotel and reception. This caused some confusion on arrival and check in where several guests were unsure where to go.
The hotel bar and patio area has a view of the castle which is amazing. We sat there having a nightcap on a couple of evenings. With the castle lit up in the background this was a really magical and beautiful setting.
All in all, this is a lovely hotel in a beautiful location and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again"
"Everything was spotless. Lovely comfy beds and quality bed linen. Excellent location. Parking was easy and plenty of spaces. Would definitely stay again."
Hotel de la Cité Carcassonne - MGallery Collection
8/10 Good
"The hotel is obviously very old but the rooms could be updated a bit. Furnishings were tired.
Outside cushions were left out overnight and the time we were there they were constantly wet so we couldn’t sit on them.
The staff were fantastic, they were super helpful with questions and couldn’t do enough for you.
The food was incredible 5**
Beautiful place Carcassone and would certainly love to return"
