"Our family of 4 had a lovely stay in this beautiful house. It is located in a very quiet street near the lovely centre of Saint Benoît village. Downstairs the tastefully furnished kitchen and lounge overlook a beautiful big garden. "We werden gastvrij ontvangen. En op het eerste gezicht zag alles er prima uit. Ons verblijf vond plaats in december. Het plafond is erg hoog. De slaapkamers zitten op een verdieping. "Accueil très chaleureux de Chantal. La maison était nikel et conforme aux photos (extèrieures). Seul petit hic, il n'est pas indiqué (clairement) que 2 des couchages se situent dans la même pièce à savoir la pièce de vie. D'autre part le 3eme couchage est vraiment sous forte pente et difficilement accessible pour des adultes de grande taille. Cela n'a pas pour autant perturbé notre séjour très agréable."

"We stayed here for a couple of nights on our way further south in France.The location is so quiet and pretty and the fenced garden meant we could relax and not worry about the dog or the kids wandering too far. HI Poitiers - La Caserne

2/10 Terrible

"As a hostel, I would give the stay 4-5 stars but as a hotel only one. perhaps my understanding of the property was mistaken. My initial welcome was excellent and so I am sorry to have to give such a review as this. The room is absolutely spartan (but clean) but you are given bed sheets on arrival and expected to remove them on departure - a new experience for me at a hotel. The bed was not particularly comfortable, the wash basin had no plug and the shower had a leak so that only limited water was getting through. It also took me a very long time to realise that it was not their intention not to have cover for the windows but that there were shutters that could be lowered by means of a non-descript switch next to the door ie as far away from the windows as was possible. I was delighted to be leaving after only one night."

"This place is perfect for a stop over while driving through France. The buffet style breakfast is excellent value for money as is the hotel itself. There’s secure parking and you can top up with groceries from the next door supermarket before you hit the road again. Will be looking out for other Ace hotels while traveling in the future."

"Great location. Very clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was a decent size as per European standards. Bed comfortable. Our room had a patio in front with table and chairs for great view of the square in front. Lots of restaurants/bar , cafés, shopping very close by. This is an older beautiful building so elevator is very small if you are claustrophobic."

"I paid for an 'upgraded' room. Staff very brusque and I was handed key and told room was not in Manoir but in another building 200 yards away. This building had birds nests and droppings all over entrance. We had to climb 2 flights of stairs to a lofted room that had 2 extra befs in the loft and a small A/C unit incapable of cooling such a room in 37 degree heat. I handed back they key and was refused either a refund or change of room A nightmare experience!"

Best Western Plus Poitiers Centre Le Grand Hotel

"I have to begin this review by saying that I do not understand how it’s possible that this hotel has four stars. It’s simply not in the right class. The front desk staff were very welcoming and pleasant, the air conditioning in the room was exceptionally good (which was needed during this heatwave), but other than that, the rest of the experience was simply okay. The hotel is in need of renovation in general (very dated decor), but the worst of it is that the door to the room will not close properly. There was a gap between the door jamb and the door even when the door was closed and locked, resulting in in sound-proofing. It also seems like a security issue to me, and it’s shocking that hotel management allows this to remain in this condition. In addition, the room’s refrigerator smelled like Camembert when I first opened it, and I had to get cleaning staff to clean it out for me. One of the coffee cups had splattered coffee stains on the outside, so I’m not sure how thoroughly the cups are cleaned between guests either. The bottom sheet on the bed had black marks on it, and the mattress sagged and was simply not up to 4-star hotel standards. This hotel room did have access to a terrace/balcony (the only standard room with this feature), but it was not maintained. All in all, I had the impression of a hotel hanging on to a 4-star rating that simply doesn’t apply anymore."
