"Nice hotel in beautiful surroundings however the decor is very tired. The staff were very friendly and hospitable and the leisure facilities were good. There is a very limited food menu on offer in the bar and the quality of the food was mediocre at best."

"The grounds were superb, a lovely breakfast selection and ample parking options. If you are using the venue for a sports event you can't go wrong. we stayed in a superior room which was very comfortable, well presented and great value. "

Asked for an invoice for business expenses as need VAT one. Hotel said they can't provide this despite the fact I have one from another Holiday Inn I stayed at 3 days ago on the same trip (also booked through Hotels.com). Asked for a credit card for room security expenses in case of damage - again the earlier Holiday Inn from the same trip didn't need this so seems to be different protocols between hotels in the chain? Hotel were also complicated about using pool. Can't use it after check out and this wasn't communicated on check in so worth being aware of this limitation. They did extend check out to allow this so resolved in the end but worth being aware of. "

"This is an historical building, very well built and maintained. Staff could be friendlier, more enthusiasm. I will stay here again. Clean, great area. Shops and food close by, and can walk to the Castle from here. Nice to have local parking."

"Room was clean, could do with improvement bathroom door at the bottom was a bit rotted, shower cubicle was a bit grubby, but overall no complaints, bar was lovely and clean, had a drink was a bit pricey, but that’s hotels for you, overall an enjoyable stay, staff were very friendly and helpful."

"Bed linen had cug burns in bathroom taps were very lime scaled up. Shower curtain was mouldy."

"Room was nice and for a quick stay it’s a great spot. Heat was off so was a bit cold in the room but the blanket provided was warm"

"Hotel was nice, we really enjoyed the pool and the rooms. We did find that the what in the shower kept going hot and cold but not the end of the world. However something in the room made my partner have an allergic reaction so I'd you have allergies it might be worth bringing up in case it's a pet friendly room"
