Vintage Cottage in Wanchese

Enjoy the fishing village of Wanchese, the quaint town of Manteo, and the nearby beaches of the Atlantic during your stay in “Aunt Vid’s Cottage.” Aunt Vid’s family restored the cottage, preserving its original charm while providing many new amenities, including WiFi, central air-conditioning, new appliances, and an outside shower and fish-cleaning sink.

Upon entering Aunt Vid's cottage, you will be transported to an earlier era of tranquility on Roanoke Island. The family restored the original pine floors throughout the cottage. They renovated the kitchen while maintaining its vintage feel with basket-weave tile, a retro fridge, and butcher block counter-tops. The little cottage has a large front porch for enjoying the island breeze. After a day at the beach or fishing on the sea, the outside shower is a private, roomy spot in which to wash away the sand.

Lovely beach cottage

Beautiful cottage with lots of character just a short drive from the beach and restaurants. Very quiet and residential, we had a lovely stay.

A perfect get away

This was the sweetest, coziest, and happiest little cottage to stay in. The property is well maintained. It has everything you need for a nice get away. It's a great jumping off point, Kitty Hawk museum, the lighthouse, the ocean, and local eateries.

First Visit to Outer Banks

This cozy cottage was a good central location for visiting many Outer Banks sites. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and deck during our stay. The house had lots of nice touches, even a guitar and turntable.

Really top notch

Honestly, even if you weren't planning on going to Wanchese, staying in this place would make it worthwhile to take a detour. So close to the alligator national wildlife refuge, which is why we went, but ridiculously close to the beaches and restaurants and all of that if you're interested in that as well. Great place. Felt more like a cabin than a beach rental, which is why I liked it.

Cozy and centrally located for our stay

This vintage cottage was clean, cozy, and had everything needed for our 4 day stay! We enjoyed the record player and "Oldie but Goodie" record albums :) We couldn't get the lock to work on one of our days there but Cecilia helped us right away and put us back in business. If you're visiting the OBX area - this is the place to stay!

Sweet cottage

The cottage was so charming. It warmed my heart when I brought my daughter and her friend in the door and they went straight for the record player and the games. The cottage was clean and decorated beautifully. The host was wonderful and made us feel very welcome. It definitely is worth a repeat visit!

Cottage Comfort and Location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the workmanship and decorative touches were wonderful - the cottage is cared for and inviting everywhere you look - quiet and peaceful - the location was perfect, no matter what your interests are - do plan a visit here - you will not be disappointed!! We weren’t and I must confess - I’m a bit fussy at times - We had all the comforts of home

Quiet charming escape

A birthday celebration get together. Cards, wine, records playing below the chatter at the cottage. Daily escapades to Nags Head beaches, Mulligans & Blue Moon for lunches, Manteo shopping and the Elizabethan Gardens. Bought seafood at O’Neals and cooked a few nights. Kitchen had what we needed. No complaints, loved it and hope to return!

Clean, quaint and convenient

We came to Wanchese for the OBX Marathon and Half Marathon to watch our daughter run her first event. The house was really close to the Start/Finish line so that made it easy on us for the early start. The house was really clean and quaint; the turtable and albums were utilized alot so we got to reminisce about Billy Joel, Linda Ronsatdt and Little Feat!

Just as described

Lovely place. Outdoor shower was nice on the warm evenings. Easy parking for our 2 cars. Comfy living room with streaming all set up on the TV. Neighborhood was quiet, not a neighbor in sight. Far enough away from the shore to have some peace and quiet, but close enough to be in Kitty hawk in 10 minutes. Would definitely stay here again.

If a House could be a boutique hotel, this is it!!!

We were blown away from the moment we walked into Aunt Vid's Cottage! Care has been placed in every aspect of the house. From the adorable front porch surrounded by flowers, opening the door and smelling like I walked into Crabtree and Evelyn, the sunny "Happy" feeling present in every single room, records, family games, fresh flowers in bud vases, gleaming hardwoods, beautiful antiques, hidden birds...just so much to say. We absolutely loved this gem of a house!! It's central location in Outer Banks was perfectly located near anything you could want to do. We would and do plan on staying here again!! Thank you for the hospitality!!

The cottage was clean,neat and close to the marina where our charter was located. The only faults were the lack of an exhaust fan in the bathroom which was in close proximity to the kitchen and dining area; if the tv was capable of getting local channels there were no instructions on how to acquire them and lastly some of the boards on the back deck needed to be replaced. Off season dining options are rather limited in Wanchese - that's not the proprietor's fault.
