There was a $124 cleaning fee that was not explicit in the hotels.com summary of expenses which stated (including all taxes and fees). Rather it was listed under "other hotel information". I stayed in a condo to save a few bucks and it cost as much as a four star hotel. The internet was not set up, I spent over an hour trying to get either of the two TV's to work, including with customer service, to no avail. Sheets were 250 thread count, horrible rock hard mattress. This was unit 508 at 400 8th NW. I could have stayed at the Marquis for nearly the same.
We arrived close to the check in time and were told our room wasn’t ready yet, so we got some tea down the street, then our room wasn’t ready an hour later and the it wasn’t ready 3 hours after that. No coordination between the apartment staff and Stay Alfred, the apartment staff actually told us that the relationship between them and Stay Alfred has been canceled because they were so bad to work with. No customer service at all.
The tv did not work in the bedroom. Overall, my issues are with Expedia and not the property itself. I booked the room because the price was reasonable - did not see the $125 cleaning fee because it was not disclosed on the main "Expedia" page. Expedia advertised it as $202 per night. I arrived at 9:00 pm and left at 8:00 am the next day - did not dirty anything besides one towel, one washcloth and one bath mat. Not anywhere near worth the extra $125.
My wife and I stayed in a one bedroom apartment for 3 nights with all the amenities one would expect. We enjoyed it more than the 3 nights we stayed in nearby highly rated hotel a few weeks earlier. Numerous nice restaurants are nearby, as well as museums and government buildings within walking distance. A well equipped fitness center is available in a building owned by the same company down the street. Free wifi is included. We were very happy with the experience and would definitely stay there again.
The location is convenient. The apartment comes with an additional $125 assessed cleaning fee, which makes it much less competitive with other options and should be factored into its hotel.com rankings up front. The management agent also forces you to register separately through its website, which seems invasive. The condition of the apartment is fair, with strong need of a painting touch up, filling holes in the walls, and recaulking all bathroom fixtures. There is a pervasive smell of mildew throughout the apartment and a never ending sound of running water that comes from a utility closet located in the kitchen. Provisions are meager: two bath towels, two hand towels, two wash cloths, two bars of soap in the bathroom for a four night stay for two. No housekeeping service during the stay. The apartment is slightly larger than a micro unit and there is a true king bed. This is a third floor unit facing a CVS and a bar. There are large TVs in the living room and bedroom. The washer-dryer is helpful to have. The fitness center is in a separate building and the keys fob wouldn’t access the locker room. There is a kitchen but no nearby grocery stores - best for leftovers only. The guest is expected to load and start the dishwasher before leaving in spite of the cleaning fee that is already charged automatically.
It was very nice to stay in a spacious two bedroom apartment with all the amenities. The location was awesome! Walking distance to the Washington Mall, museums, restaurants and bars.
When booked, advised needed 3 beds. Emailed confirming that the sofa bed would be made up. Arrived after 30 hours of travelling to no sofa bed made up. Had to call them & advised they don't make it up & we have to. Told sheets etc in cupboard. Only 1 sheet & blanket supplied. Air cond broke down 1st day & no one fixed it our entire stay (5 nights). Dishwasher didn't work then went to hand wash & no plug for sink. Spoke to so many staff members but just nothing happened the entire stay, then I was told they will evaluate once we leave??? We were just ignored. When I got back to Australia, I asked to speak to a manager & we did receive a discount however this does not erase the terrible service & stay we received. I will just stay in an actual hotel in future, at least I can speak to someone in person, Stay Alfred - guests are invisible.
Very convenient as we were able to walk to the different places of interest. We rented a one bedroom apartment and it was perfect for our three day stay. The only inconvenience was the parking but for a place downtown it was expected. We parked in an underground garage that costs $70.

Corporate apts always bring a special touch to a stay. On the plus side, this one had space, a great gym and a comfy bed. But it is a bit dated, the shower did not drain well), and I couldn't get the cable TV to work in the bedroom.
Need to go over place and fix broken shower handle and make sure you have all light bulbs working. There was a major light out and we were not given the right light bulb. Terrible towels, could have had a small amount of detergent too.

Customer Service was really great from everyone in the building. They are super helpful and courteous. The biggest problem was the actual apartment. The kitchen is very old and many of the fixtures need to be updated.
Amazing location. Minutes from the Mall but very limited on stores for groceries etc!
Perfect apartment for a family of 4 short stay. Be warned, the sofa bed mattress is not comfy for adults in the slightest.
Only confusing issue is the cleaners turned up a day early and we wouldn’t let them in to clean. Then Stay Alfred sent me an email wanting to discuss the “payment for extending our stay”. Poor admin and absolutely unnecessary.
The apartment was in a very convenient location. We were able to get to most destinations fairly easy by walking. The apartment has two smart TVs which our kids loved. The staff was friendly and very helpful. It was clean and spacious enough for our family. The room matched the value.
Perfect for what I was looking for. Business trip, but brought my family. Very clean, very nice, slept better on that mattress than my own bed, saved money by having the kitchen, but still plenty of restaurants very close by. Family enjoyed all the museums while I was off working. Everything is within short walking distance. The only complaint was that there was no cable TV, but we didn't want to watch TV anyways! We wanted to get out and enjoy Washington!
We stayed 2 nights. Every thing were blow average, There was no cleaning at 2nd day. Washroom was very outdated. We called front desk for extra towels but they never sent. I guess they were more security gaurd.
Staff (Edgar, Shawn) at front desk were very knowledgeable and helpful!
Location: wonderful until protest crowds (one block south) snarled up traffic, delayed my taxi for transport to airport.
