"Everything was marvelous absolutely marvelous My wife and have found a new place for lodging when visiting the grandchildren"

"Staff was courteous and attentive. Property was overall clean. After being in the room for about 45 mins we realized room’s fridge was not working properly so we told front desk staff. They moved us to another room. This room had a sofa bed and when we opened it, there was food residues like chips, popcorn… we didn’t use it because it wasn’t clean. Beds were comfortable. TV: we used the remote to look for a channel guide but we couldn’t figure it out. We had to go one by one to find programs that we could watch. Pool towels were scarce. Not sure if there’s a restroom in the lobby near the pool. But e/time we needed to use it we had to take the elevator to our room. Hall and elevator floors were wet; I guess because of that. We liked that check out was at noon."

Saint John's Resort

"We often travel to Michigan to visit family and staying at St. John's Resort was on the wish list. This most recent visit we booked a couple nights of the trip. This particular weekend St. John's was dealing with two large wedding celebrations but staff were still available to us for questions. Their famous steakhouse was prohibitively expensive for us so we tried a small meal for brunch. The server was attentive to us and all the tables he was tending. The food was good but nothing exceptional. The room was immaculate and well stocked with supplies. However, compared to the Hilton we'd just come from this room was smaller. The best aspect of the room was the quiet HVAC system. We were not awakened by a noisy heating/cooling unit; this was completely quiet. The bed linens were OK (the standard for us was Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia.). If you're picky about having a firm pillow. pack your own. St. John's pillows are medium firmness. It wasn't terrible, we just had higher expections and turned out to be just OK."

Hyatt Place Detroit Royal Oak

10/10 Excellent

"Overall great. The staff checking in was very friendly. Check out staff was good. Entire properly was very nice and clean. Room was great, though the pillows were a little soft and there were water stains on the ceiling in our room. The shower floor was also slippery. The elevators were a little sketchy; they shook and squealed way more than they needed to. Parking was no issue. Good stay, would stay there again."

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Detroit Utica

2/10 Terrible

"The hotel was fairly new, but hadn’t been maintained. The room was OK but very dirty. All the corners needed to be cleaned. The tub needed to be cleaned. There was a lot of hair in spots. I had to wipe down the entire room before I used it. I only stayed one of my two nights because I was so grossed out. It’s an expensive staff was decent locations not bad but the construction is a bit of a pain."
