"It was a good experience room was very clean and tidy on arrival staff where very helpful parking was easy to get a space and grounds where well maintained we didn't opt for breakfast so I can't really say. But the stay was good only issue was the wedding party and I know these things can't be helped but kids running about all night slamming doors unsupervised was a issue through the night but eventually settled, bed was very comfy but the room was really warm and wasn't enough fresh air from the window. But these are little things I'd definitely stay again. Liam"

"We enjoyed this historic and lovely inn. The staff, though rather stoic, were helpful and did an excellent job. Breakfast and other meals were very nice. The room was lovely and the bed was heavenly comfortable. We would heartily recommend this inn and already have."

"This was the perfect place to call home for the week we stayed and explored Yorkshire. Excellent food, perfect location, cozy. The staff were lovely. AND, it was Alf Wight’s (James Herriott’s) favorite spot in Thirsk. We couldn’t have liked it better!"

"Lovely place, lovely setting. Stayed either side of the Great North Run. Staff were absolutely lovely, even got complimentary drinks when they found we'd just been running! :) Room very nice and spacious, comfy bed, only complaint would be that room was a tad warm for me, even with radiator off! Complientary entry to the health club as a hotel guest was a big reason we picked here, enabled a good soak and steam after running!"

"Parking you have to pay extra for. A king room with sofa bed will mean you get the quieter top floor. Great for business travel. Can make own meals or grab a beer and something to eat downstairs."
