"Breakfast was terrible. Too few staff. Coffee machine needed attention, no croissants, tray of fresh fruit needed filling. No clean tables. The staff were running around trying to help everyone. Needs looking at "

White Hart, Exeter by Marston's Inns

"Perfectly adequate for a 1 night stop. Location was good, right in the centre. We arrived about 4.30pm and there were only 2 parking spaces left. Room was good, clean and spacious. Not a fan of shower curtains over a bath, would prefer a screen. Our main gripe was this is a Marston's Inn, a company renowned for it's real ale. We were going to eat in the restaurant around 7.30 on a Friday night but were told that there was no ale on at the pumps, only lager. Not even a decent bottled beer either! Did that mean they would have no ale on all weekend? Not good enough Marstons! We did have a cooked breakfast the following morning which was good but had to wait a good 20 minutes for this and there weren't that many people having breakfast. Overall a perfectly good place to stay in Exeter."

The Royal Lion Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"We are so pleased we booked the Royal Lion! The location is excellent and you're right in the heart of Lyme Regis. The room we booked (deluxe double room with terrace) was excellent. Clean, welcoming and comfortable. There were extra touches like the selection of teas and coffees as well as biscuits and some cans of water. There was parking at the hotel too. Even though it is a fairly small car park, we always found a space. We ate at the restaurant every evening while we were there. An excellent selection of choices. Full marks! Breakfast was something to look forward to as well. A buffet breakfast as well as a large menu for a cooked breakfast. This was all included in the reasonable fixed breakfast price. All the staff from the minute we checked in were great. Sharon greeted us at reception and advised us about the restaurant and breakfast, as well as the parking. Sending a thank you to the friendly helpful staff in the restaurant and at breakfast, Tom and Abbie! Apologise for forgetting the other names of the staff we met. This is an excellent hotel and we would definitely recommend a stay here"

Holiday Inn Express Exeter - City Centre by IHG

8/10 Good

"Nice reception area and a wide range of breakfast choices including a nicely cooked hot buffet. The Staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and well laid out for my stay. The shower was spacious and there were plenty of towels and shampoo, plus soap dispensers."
