Stiffkey is a lovely little village with fantastic pub and local store. The cottage had everything you would need and was a great place to stay for the weekend.

Lovely cottage.
Lovely cottage. Comfortable and cosy. In normal times I’d say cleanliness was good but could have been a little more thorough. Garden is lovely to sit and relax in but I think it should be made clear that you couldn’t let a dog off lead in it unless they are extremely well trained. Too many exciting rabbity corners.

Lovely cottage, it is what you would expect of an old Norfolk cottage, which is why we like this kind of thing, the Hilton it is not, and yes its on the cost road, which is busy in the morning and evening as people travel out and in again, BUT, what you do get is a quaint rustic cottage with beautiful view of the countryside, lovely village pub, adequality equipped local shop and a beautiful and ideally situated location and base to explore North Norfolk, and out the kitchen window you can watch the Muntjack, Pheasants and Squirrels, and hear the owls and deer on the hills in the evening, we will definitely be back

Lovely cosy cottage lots of amenities and welcome tea n coffee and biscuits
Lovely cottage part of Norfolk history very peaceful only thing I'd change would be the sofas were small and outdated and could stretch out on the evening but apart from that it was truely perfect x

We loved it.
We loved it. J & J were helpful and organised with all the details and what was on locally.
The Cottage was clean and well equipped.
On a very soggy and cold weekend - it was warm and cozy (storage heaters).
It was perfect for us but if you are slightly less mobile, the stairs are steep.
We shall be returning :)

Liked: Cleanliness, location
The Forge, Stiffkey
It’s a lovely cottage with loads of original features, in a fantastic coastal location. But the experience fell a little short of what we were hoping for.
On arrival, it was pitch dark, with nobody to welcome us and no outside light switched on. Not the end of the world, but not the best start.
Inside, the cottage had a rather musty smell. It was cosy, though, and very comfortable.
The biggest issue - which I think needs to be rectified asap - was the shower, which was dreadful and potentially dangerous. The temperature fluctuated between red hot and freezing cold, with nothing in between. Very little water came from it either.
A reliable and modern shower is one of the essentials for any break, so I couldn’t recommend the cottage to anyone at the moment.
The only other thing that could be improved is the mattress on the double bed. It’s far too firm.
It’s such a gorgeous cottage, and it’s a shame that it is a little short of its potential. Nonetheless, the sun shone, the area is gorgeous and we had a great time.

Lovely, quaint, comfortable cottage with beautiful garden.
Lovely, quaint, comfortable cottage with beautiful garden. However, because of the steep stairs, would not recommend for very young children or anyone who has difficulty climbing stairs. Luckily the bathroom is downstairs.

Forge Cottage
Forge Cottage is a lovely 2 up 2 down plus bathroom on the main Wells to Blackeney Road in the village of Stiffkey. The road here is busy, narrow and winding, the parking space a pull-in straight off the road, making parking a hairy experience. The cottage is a semi, joined to the larger Blacksmith Cottage, set in extensive and interesting gardens, up and down steps, with mature trees. Open the front door, cosy living room to the left, well equipped kitchen diner with off shot bathroom to the right. Infront of you very steep stairs to the bedrooms. Don't stay here if you need the toilet in the night and your knees are not 100%! WiFi worked fine. Missed that bath towels are extra (why?) but they were delivered promptly when requested. In all an enjoyable stay.

Lovely cottage in a super location.
Lovely cottage in a super location. Very friendly and helpful owners, we loved our time here. The garden is a little untidy but this didn't stop our 8 & 10 year old from enjoying exploring it - they thought it was great! but younger kids may need close supervision. The cottage is on a narrow section of road and its a bit unnerving walking to the shop, but once past the shop there is a pavement. We would definitely come back.
Other minor points, the fridge is a bit noisy and the storage heaters are difficult to set.

We had a lovely short break in Forge Cottage - absolutely no bad words to say about the cottage itself. It's cosy without being cramped, very well equipped, has a lovely wood burning stove, is comfortable, warm, and has a nice new stereo and TV. I didn't meet the owners but they were very helpful and friendly, and left a nice tray of tea and biscuits to welcome us.
The garden is okay, fine for letting the dog out into, but could be really lovely with some more work. Each cottage also has a nice little area outside it for sitting and having a glass of something :o)
The road is relatively narrow, and busy at times - we didn't hear any traffic noise from the cottage though, it's more noticeable when you need to try and reverse your car up onto the parking space or when walking to the (lovely) local shop.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here, and I hope to go again someday. Next time I'll get to the shop for 8.30am and get some of the warm cinnamon buns before they sell out!

I fail to see how anyone could leave negative feedback on this cottage. So quaint, cosy and warm. Great location to explore north Norfolk. The deer greeted us every morning in the garden outside the living room. Will definitely return.
