"Lovely stay at the hotel. Great service. Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. Nice and close to all the shops and things to do. Downside - pillows really uncomfortable. We were in room 231 which was on the back and you did get noise from the tanoy but nothing terrible. "

"Really lovely stay at The Grand - hotel room is spacious, clean and comfortable and added touch of chocolates/anniversary card. We did receive our Expedia VIP benefit of £20 food/wine credit but actually didn't realise we had so would have been good for this to be noted. We also enjoyed the spa in the morning and the breakfast (though at £25 , make sure you're hungry). Lovely 1906 bar too with live music. Walkable to York. "

"From entering to exiting the hotel, the staff was very friendly, welcoming and the whole place was clean, nicely decorated, warm and welcoming too! The rooms were spotless, beds were very comfy. We had breakfast in the restaurant, the food was fresh, warm and the selection was amazing, catered for everyone including gluten free. The staff at breakfast were prompt, ensuring items were topped up when required and addressing customers concerns if they were any. "

"It's a lovely hotel, great staff, nice rooms, and a good location. Breakfasts were good. Our only issue was the stairs. There is no lift in the hotel. Staff carried our luggage up when we checked in and brought it down when we checked out which was greatly appreciated, but if someone has mobility issues, the stairs are a challenge."

"I liked that we had a great view of the river and the city . Great location for going to the wall, Shambles , Minster . A good walking area and lots of choices for restaurants. "

"Overall a good stay but wouldn’t consider it boutique. Few marks and stains on the carpets ,curtains ill fitting. Appreciate the history and age of the building but it’s in need of a few domestic repairs. Unable to reduce the temperature of the water in the shower and was far too hot. After a while there was no water at all available. Breakfast was good . "
