The venue was clean, well placed and adequate for our visit.
The Lighthorseman was a reasonably clean place with adequate facilities. Good location short walk to the river. Breakfast was very average but we had a good stay.
I booked this accommodation as a stopover after york races and it met every expectation I had. Great location' clean room ' good value food and alcohol and a simple check in. Possibly the only negative was the road noise but at the price I paid it was still a great choice to stay. Thanks.

Clean and tidy room, local to York centre, had everything we needed, really nice stay
It was quirky and I loved the whole atmosphere. I didn’t use the bar just the room , shower was hot and the bus nearby was great , also the river and wall walks were close by as well .
Nice cheap victorian pub, nice breakfast and nice pub grub, only 8 minutes walk from the city walls at the postern gate. And there's a wetherspoons there as well.
The Lighthorseman is in an excellent position - a short walk into the city and regular buses to the city centre, the retail outlet centre and Selby. Value for money is excellent. Dan the owner and all the staff are excellent and go above and beyond to make the stay good. The breakfast is amazing! I only had it one day because I was meeting people for lunch - their breakfast will set you up for the day! There were some plumbing issues while I was there (hence 4 stars rather than 5). These were promptly rectified and I was very generously recompensed for the inconvenience. There is food available in the afternoon/evening. I especially appreciated the light bite £6 menu at night.

The bed was unbelievably comfy, the room was clean and warm and the staff on the bar were a great help and very friendly.
Booked due to proximity to Barbican (5 min walk). Rates were very favourable. Room 2 was a decent size, well presented and very quiet. Bed was very comfortable. Everything worked. Only minor observation was the minimal flow from the shower - it works well enough, just don't expect a deluge.
Friendly staff and managed to get parked round the back. Lines are a little on the narrow side so passengers might need to decamp before you squeeze into the space.
York was lovely though. Would definitely consider staying here again.
It was exactly what I was looking for. Somewhere to lay my head for a couple of nights. (Motorbike riding break)
Off road parking was perfect and a bonus! Breakfast was really good. Perfectly placed in the city for a 5-10 mins walk into the city centre. Lots of bars/restaurants to choose from. The pub has sky sports which was a bonus also.
All in all, I can't complain. Would definitely stay again if I'm up that way.

Great location, lovely building, freshly cooked breakfast
A nice space to use as a base for visiting York. A short walk from the city centre - and a stone's throw from a walk along the river - it's a pleasant, comfortable stay. My room was basic but comfortable and had everything I needed. It was also very quiet despite being part of a pub.
