"To be candid, this hotel was not our first choice for our 3-day stay in Takayama. However, the other hotel didn't have availability for us and the Tokyu Stay did. That really turned out to be fortuitous. As first time travelers in Japan, when we got off the train in Takayama, we were overjoyed by the proximity of the hotel; a short 2-minute walk. Our room was very comfortable and roomy enough for us. (My wife and I are not big people.) We did not use the in-room laundry. However, another couple who we were traveling with did, and they found it difficult to figure out how to use the laundry. And they also felt that the dryer function did not work well. This is a tourist hotel. During our stay, there was a group of Australians staying there. It was fun chatting with them at breakfast. The breakfast had a nice selection of western breakfast food and Japanese items. I might have preferred to have more variety in the Japanese items, but the quality was good and the food was tasty. The afternoon happy hour is a nice feature, but we only participated once, on the day we arrived. My wife used the onsen. But the feature she enjoyed even more was the footbath, which she used every day after our hikes."

"OK. I have done it. A straight 'full-marks' across the board. From the moment we checked in, this place has been a delight. Rooms are impeccable. Staff work hard to get you where you need to be. The documents supplied on what is offered in the area were tremendous. If you are here to relax in the summer or ski in the winter, this is a gem of a place to stay. There are only 10 rooms or so, so you are not fighting a crowd. Breakfast is more than enough to get you through the start of the day and beautifully prepared. A lot of time and effort put in by all the staff, from the front desk to the cleaning crew. This is a great place to unwind from a hard day of holidaying, close (0-15 mins) to a lot of food/recreational activities and near (15-30 mins) to a lot more. Enjoy!"

"If you travel to Shirakawa-go and want to experience a truly wonderful Japanese experience, this hotel is for you. The rooms are excellent and super clean. We experienced the private baths from the hot springs and was also great! The dinner was amazing and the town magical. We loved it!"

"Great location, less than a 10-minute walk from Takayama Station. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The hotel has two public onsens, which were wonderful after a day of sightseeing. We also enjoyed a delicious kaiseki dinner. Highly recommend Takayama Green Hotel for a comfortable and relaxing stay in Takayama!"
