Blueberry is a character-filled country home with spectacular views in all directions. Named after the native Blueberry Ash that surrounds the house.
Nestled along the rainforest escarpment of Drawing Room Rocks, this five acres of perfect seclusion features a character-filled, architect-designed weatherboard home that says 'welcome home', from its striking entrance of recycled timbers to its full-length verandah which is a favourite spot for relaxing and indulging in the sweeping outlook to Coolangatta Mountain and the ocean beyond.
The light-filled interiors feature beautiful French doors and sash windows that allow the outside in, providing a harmonious balance with nature. There are two defined living areas: dining and kitchen with chef-inspired bench heights, a pantry, laundry with washer/ dryer and a lounge with slow combustion fireplace. The living areas are connected to a bedroom wing via a breezeway lined with louvre windows and supported by turpentine beams from a dismantled wharf in Wollongong. In this wing, there is the main bedroom with king-size bed, office desk and ensuite bathroom with bath/rainfall shower and a rollaway single bed suitable for a teen and younger can be made on request. In the second bedroom a king-size bed which is beside the main bathroom with rainfall shower. Each room leads out to a private verandah. There is a third bedroom accessed from the lounge/ living area with two king-single beds. A single sofabed ottoman can be made on request in the lounge/ living area suitable for a teen and younger.
Approximately three and a half acres of the property is cleared, creating a lawn area ideal for a game of backyard cricket, kicking a soccer ball or admiring a couple of beehives from afar (located over 200m from the house), there is ample space for all to enjoy or relax and sit around the outdoor fire pit. The remainder of the property is natural rainforest, including a small spring leading to a rocky outcrop waterfall. Established gardens filled with fragrant flowering plants are set against a backdrop of lush tree ferns. Wildlife is in abundance, you often see an echidna rambling across the lawn, or a black rock-wallaby sharing the garden along with wombats that appear at dusk. The birdlife is quite spectacular, with parrots, wrens, lyrebirds and bower birds. It's pretty special to see the wild geese grooming themselves in the waterlily pond. In the immediate surrounds the walks are fantastic, either down to Brogers Creek for a dip in one of the many cascading water holes or up to the plateau of Drawing Room Rocks. By car, it's 14 kilometres to Seven Mile Beach and closer still to the Shoalhaven River and naturally, there is all that Berry Village and Kangaroo Valley have to offer. Only two and a half hours drive to/from Sydney.
