"What a great view from the hotel! Free shuttle bus between train station and hotel. Great keiseki dinner and a good selection of buffet breakfast. We had a private onsen in our room, and it was great. You can even set the temperature you want yourself. There is no shops near the hotel, but there is a shop in the hotel itself which sells the basics, so no complaints."

"Staff were very helpful when i checked in here. I did get the impression they dont get too many overseas travellers but this did not stop them from being friendly and providing the service they would provide anyone staying there. This place also advertised a public bath available which i regretfully did not use as i was not there long enough. I was only here for one night on a stop but when i took a stroll around the neighbourhood i felt very safe and there were plenty of convenience stores....

"We loved staying at Mikansei! Our room was clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed ourselves in the shared spaces, including the kitchen, bathrooms, and communal areas. Our hosts, Claire and Shiro, were incredibly gracious, sharing their knowledge about the Oi river valley and Japan in general, as well as their time, and taking an interest in their guests.
