"
The location of the hotel is amazing, right next to a very popular photography spot in Gion. Because of this, expect some noises as there are always photographers outside around the clock. Washer dryer is really convenient. The rooms are very well maintained. Short walk to many stores and shops in Gion. "

"Not the easiest place to find, would suggest a sign between the two other buildings, it’s opp the Police station. At the rear of the front buildings. However once you have found it, the accommodation is great. Easy walk to buses or taxi to wherever.
Great place would recommend, just remember it’s down an alley!"

"The house is beautiful and very close to Ninenzaka village. We couldn't ask for a better place to stay in. The online pictures didn't do it justice. We would definitely stay there again if we ever get a next time."

"We really enjoyed staying in a real house in a real neighborhood for our trip to Kyoto. There was plenty of room for our small family, and we felt we had a more authentic visit to this beautiful city. A couple things to note for those who read reviews is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and narrow, and I worried for my husband navigating them in the dark at night. The bed in the second bedroom is on the floor, which isn't a bad thing considering this is an authentic experience,...

"This place was way better than I was expecting. It is large and clean and very traditional and has great amenities like a washer dryer, a great bathroom and a nice upstairs. Just my wife and rented it but it could easily comfortably hold a family of 6. The people running it ere super nice and very responsive and helpful. I plan to stay there again!"

"It was very special experience to stay at Japanese traditonal house with my family. It was a little bit far from the main sightseeing site but we were ok because we had a car. Kinkakuji was especially awesome."

"This Kyoto hostel completely overturned my impression of local accommodations being typically cramped. Very clean and comfortable. High-quality beddings. The living room was surprisingly spacious—easily accommodating our big group with over ten large suitcases! Located near Fushimi Inari Shrine and Tofukuji Temple, it was very peaceful at night. We had brought thick bedding, worried that Kyoto might be cold, but the rooms were extremely comfortable. When we asked for more bowls, chopsticks, and a...

"Great host and communication. The house is cozy and it had everything we needed. The air conditioning was great in the Japanese heatwave. In just under 10 minutes, you can walk to some of the nicest streets in Kyoto with temples and cafes.
However, everything around there closes quite early and becomes really quiet - so be aware if it’s not your vibe. Not a big deal for me, though.
The only real issue is that the property is not very accessible: the closest bust stop is about 15 min away and...

"The hotel is a beautiful property, my friends and I were very excited for our stay here in Kyoto. Unfortunately upon arrival, we were told that the room I booked through Expedia only allows 2 adults, even though Expedia says it’s for 4 people. There were 3 of us, so we did not think it would be an issue, but the staff said it’s for 2 adults and 2 children. To us it really made little sense, especially since no where on Expedia does it specify what kind of persons are allowed. If you can fit 2 children, why not 1 adult.
We ended up having to come out of pocket $400 extra to book a complete separate room for 1 of us. Management and staff were not very helpful in this case, and no discount or deal was offered. This is something that needs to be resolved between the hotel and Expedia. It was very frustrating to deal with after our long travel day and the summer heat, and we felt like no one understood why we were upset.
Other than that, our stay was good, the onsen was amazing! The other accommodations were very nice too:)"
"The breakfast and the entire dining area was great. The hotel is very modern and clean. The best hotel I stayed in over a 2 week vacation in Japan. Only downside is that it's not close to Kyoto train station (35 min walk or 10 min drive) or the mall."
"We had such a fabulous stay. Great location. Nice room and walkable location with a wonderful local bakery on the corner that was perfect for breakfast and lunch!"
