we would have visited again but was told that after yesterday they where closing their doors as a hotel, really sad as the hotel, rooms and staff where all top glass.
Staff are excellent in every sense. Food is superb and breakfast is one of the best we have had. Rooms are clean tidy and spacious (depending on which room) They have some great meal deals. Overall real value for money. Easy level 10 minute walk into the city centre

Very tired. The hotel had taken the money before checkout so I ended up paying for both rooms and they refused to give us a VAT invoice which made things very awkward with the other couple.
We had a relaxing and comfortable stay at Hotel Noir. We had no tea or coffee with the kettle but when we went to reception they gave us plenty. We felt very well looked after.
A lovely place with great stuff. What a shame it is closing.

The noise impacted on our sleep with the window shut. The shower water temperature wasn’t very hot at all. Quite a tight squeeze for 2 very tall people
Lovely hotel, clean large rooms with plenty of room to walk round. Everything you should need from hair straitners to a fridge with fresh milk for your tea and coffee.
Lovely hotel just 1 mile walk into town. Easy to park, friendly staff, large rooms and comfy bed. The free minibar is also a nice touch. Couldn't have asked for more...particularly at this price. Didn't eat in the hotel as we found a lovely cafe a few doors away for breakfast, lunch and cake. Would recommend both!
We just wanted somewhere comfortable and close to the main York attractions. Hotel Noir checked both of these boxes for us. Nothing spectacular but a reasonably good hotel. Very small cramped car park at the back but I had no problem parking my car in there.
After a flat tire and 15 hours of travel, we had to book a room in York. This was great and our whole family had time to relax. The pub next door is awesome. Great staff

Birthday bash..
Friendly helpful staff.
Well located with onsite parking.
Comfortable warm room.
Unfortunately food and drink rather expensive..
£11 for breakfast each..bit much...
but alternatives such as the pub next door £6.75
Enjoyable stay..
I cannot begin to describe how amazing our stay at Hotel Noir was. We were offered a room upgrade when we got there and were so glad we took it, the room was absolutely beautiful - I’m pretty sure we’ll be dreaming of that 4 poster bed and huge bath tub for the next few weeks! Not only was our room beautiful, and the hotel very clean, the staff were amazing throughout our visit. A few issues came up but they were quickly and professionally resolved, even with a few complimentary drinks as an apology! It’s a little out of the way to get to, but only took us 10 minutes to walk into the Center of town. I can confirm we’ve come away from our weekend trip not only huge fans of York, but also huge fans of Hotel Noir! You better believe you’ll be seeing us again in the future!
Pleasantly pleased with this for the price we paid on a Saturday in York so close to Xmas, all staff where polite and friendly, breakfast was grand, free parking, easy to find and walking distance to the centre, only gripe was whoever made up the room before us forgot to replace the milk and any coffee, it was no big deal however simple mistake, would certainly return in future 100%

Very good food and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The compact room booked turned out to be too small, so we upgraded to a four poster room which was much bigger. Very nice bathroom which was spotless. The drape on the bottom corner of the bed needed a wash as what looked like red wine had been splattered there by previous occupants. On the whole we enjoyed our stay.
Excellent hotel with friendly and sensitive staff. Sadly food quality was very basic and quite poor.

Details short of a great stay.
A great location and lovely staff, but some of the room furnishings were noisily creaky, requiring expedient solutions so they didn't wake you in the night. Drawers and cupboards were in a poor state, and cleaning was spotty - I don't expect to find the last (?) Guests' takeaway dinner hidden in a drawer.
On plus side, nice compact bathroom with huge and good quality shower unit. Bed too soft for me, but that's a personal preference. Quiet room, but imperfect...
Stayed in the family room. It was big enough for all four of us, clean and tidy, with comfy beds. Only down side to the room was the shower as the water pressure was very low. On arrival, the room was quite cold, phoned reception and had a heater delivered to the room with in five minutes. Hotel is within easy walk of York city centre which has loads of things to do for families. Overall, would recommend.
Lovely hotel. Very good staff and service. Few issues with hot water for a few rooms including ours on the sunday which seemed to be getting sorted quickly. 4 poster bed room which creaked at every move but other than that a wonderful.weekend only a short walk into city centre too
