This is a charming pub and hotel that is perfect for visiting North Yorkshire. The owners are friendly and welcoming, the food is good and the room was comfortable and warm. One minor complaint- in our room the water pressure for the shower was very low.
Accommodation could do with a few touch ups additions, overall enjoyed my stay, staff were very helpful, evening meal was great, breakfast fantastic and tasty.
I only stayed one night, arrived at 10pm and left at 05:00 so didn’t eat there. The staff were friendly and helpful and the accommodation was fine. Good value for money
Accommodation was comfy and worth the amount paid. The person on the phone before arrival had been helpful. However, the service for breakfast the following day was awful. I had to go into the kitchen myself to speak to the chef as we couldn’t find the person who had previously been there to take orders. When they did arrive, they could not have seemed less interested in being there. No smile and not even basic politeness. When they brought the breakfast, which was mediocre, I asked if there was some cutlery as all that had been set out on the table was already used. They pointed at at nearby table which is as not occupied and told me there was some there and walked off.
Absolutely wonderful. Does what you would expect. Fantastic food and beer and really wonderful friendly staff.

The hotel was friendly , clean and food was excellent. Our room was in a chalet which again was clean and comfortable. Our dinner was excellent although where we were sitting was not very warm but it was snowing outside and with people coming in and out the cold air was getting in.

Staff and food very good
Room had mould and tap not fitted to cracked basin.Told staff and was told that rooms are being refurbished shortly
We stayed for 1 night as we had a wedding nearby. The rooms were clean, the beds were not very comfortable, we could feel the springs. There was no hand soap in the bathroom. Breakfast was good, very pleasant staff. It was ok for the price and for one night.
LOVELY, PUB WAS GETTING VERY BUSY AT 6 O CLOCK TEA-TIME WHICH INDICATED HOW POPULAR IT IS. PRETTY OUTDOOR AREA WITH PLANTS AND FISH WAS BUZZING YET PEACEFUL FOR A FAMILY EVENING, THE ACCOMMODATION WAS SET IN THE GARDENS TO THE REAR OF THE PUB. MY BRICK BUILT B & B CHALET WAS WARM AND COMFORTABLE WITH ALL THAT I NEEDED, EVEN THE ALARM WAS PROVIDED BY THE NEXT DOOR COCKEREL !
I WAS TOLD OF RENOVATIONS TO BE DONE SOON. IN MY OPINION JUST A FEW ODD JOBS ARE NEEDED DUE TO CARELESS GUESTS. VERY QUIET COUNTRYSIDE LOCATION AND I WOULD LOVE TO RETURN FOR A LONGER BREAK. THANKYOU X
Staff was wonderful as was the dining area and bar. Beds were sunken in & mattresses were shot. The shower was a nightmare as the cold water faucet wasn’t working. So constant fluctuations in scalding hot and freezing cold. TV didn’t work. Walls are paper thin so everything can be heard between the adjoining room

Friendly but Tired
Staff were friendly and helpful but the pub is rather tired and it shows. Rooms were clean and comfortable but paintwork was shabby and our bathroom door stuck - needed both of us to get it open again!! The breakfast was fine - well cooked and good quality, however, the dining room despearately needs improvement. The carpet in particular looks like it has been down for decades - it looks thoroughly grubby and even distracting!! Shame as the pub has a lot going for it.
