"First off, I expected a lot more from this place. It is dubbed as a "luxury" houseboat, but it had very little hospitality. There was a "welcome bag" in the kitchen with 1 roll of toilet paper (why not just put it in the bathroom??), some cleaning cloths, enough coffee for 2 cups, a tiny pouch of soap for one shower and some trash bags. The bed linens aren't even put on the beds; we had to do it ourselves! No towels either. We were expected to take out the trash, too. The price was waaaay too...

I enjoyed my 5 night stay (business) in the hotel. I don't speak any Dutch but had no difficulties as the staff (including the waiters) spoke excellent Englsh - there was even an English menu in the dining room. Food was good, kind of plain and "solid" rather than fancy or gourmet, but that's not necessarily a bad thing when travelling. We enjoyed our stay at the Golden Tulip. It was very clean and well maintained. It was convenient for us visiting relatives as it was halfway to their place and train station plus within walking distance to a gelato place, the Helmond Castle, a Catholic church, coffee shops, Hema store and Jumbo (supermarket.
