"When booking, no choice for smoking or nonsmoking, so I assumed default as nonsmoking. When arrived, I realized that all are smoking. Front desk staff do not speak even simply English. Difficult to communicate with Hotel staff. Carpet in elevator must haven’t been shampooed for attended time - the dirtiest one I personally experienced in Japan. The floor of Japnese style room may have small insects, my wife got some skin rash on her arm. The hot Springs bath is unconvinencely separated the...

Top Yunokawacho Hotel Reviews

Yunokawa Onsen Emi Hakodateya

10/10 Excellent

"Free soft serve ice cream and wonderful breakfast buffet with rice and fresh fish. Rooms were very spacious for Japan and comfortable. Staff very helpful and nice lounge area to relax in. A little far away from the train station but can get there with a 20 minute bus ride."

Bourou NOGUCHI Hakodate Ryokan

10/10 Excellent

"This hotel blew us away in every aspect, the room was unlike anything we have ever seen in terms of design, and the in room bath was filled and ready, the food was very well planned and delicious. The money spent on staying here was not wasted. We would easily choose to stay here again."

Heiseikan Shiosaitei Hanatsuki

8/10 Good

"We all stayed in Japanese/western rooms with private onsens. The rooms were old but well maintained. I have to give a low score as the hotel allows smoking and the smell of smoke was overwhelming. We had to open all of the windows and allow airflow during our entire stay. Thankfully we came in the summer so we could open the windows and there was a nice and steady breeze. They gave us a spray to spray on the tatami mats and carpet but the smell of smoke was embedded into the walls and filters (which needed to be cleaned). I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with allergies or sensitivity to smoke as I struggled with my allergies during my entire stay. The hotel staff are extremely kind and helpful and their souvenir shop is fully stocked of local snacks to do last minute shopping. There kaiseki breakfast and dinners were amazing and we always left stuffed to the brim. The in room onsens were the best part of the hotel. Each over looking the ocean, allowing you to soak in the onsen, listen to the ocean and see the sky all while in the privacy of your own room. It made every issue we had a little more acceptable."
