Search Country Houses in Zanzibar Town

If you're the type of traveler who eats at McDonald's in other country's, then this property is probably not for you, but if you want to immerse in the local culture, its fantastic. Make sure you specify a bathroom in your room, unless you're ok with sharing, and make sure you arrange for a pickup at the airport for transportation to the hotel. The street is about 5 feet wide, and the van has to park a few blocks away. The area adjacent to the hotel is a lot like Marrakech, Morrocco with...

Very unique and one of a kind hotel in the middle of stone town. Surely you can settle for comfort and choose Hyatt but you can do that anywhere in the world. Emerson Spice is a truly exceptional hotel with a very attentive staff. You will be wowed!

Stayed here for one week and enjoyed it. The hotel is on a fairly busy beach in Stone Town. Breakfast was excellent, dinners were sometimes good and sometimes not but the salad bar was great. It is safe to walk around Stone Town with plenty of restaurants, souvenir shops, fruits and spices for sale. There is a nice ice cream store right across from the hotel and although most places take US$ there is a money exchange very close by (on the other side of the building tunnel with good rates). You...

The service at the Neela was unparalleled. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful, but never fawning or in the way. Make sure to visit not only their downstairs cafe, but also their rooftop restaurant. Highly recommend.

We loved our stay at Kholle House in Stonetown. The hotel was Beautiful and the perfect escape to after a long day exploring. All The staff was fantastic in helping us get the arrangements prior to arriving and then helping us with a couple of the activities we wanted to do. We highly recommend.

The rooms are great; spacious, clean and well-stocked. Free wireless also made things nice. Our room was on the pool side and the view was still great. If you're a fan of Zanzibari doors, you'll enjoy this place. Breakfast is on the front balcony with a wonderful view overlooking the ocean. The hotel staff is friendly and are available 24 hours. Our flight in was delayed and we arrived later in the evening, but everything was ready to go when we got there; the bellhops were even on-hand to...

The property is attractive and well maintained; the staff were kind and helpful. I would recommend a stay there Duane

We absolutely loved everything about the Tembo Hotel! Everything was great-from a speedy check-in and check-out to the incredible staff that made sure we were always well taken care of at all times. This is a beautiful property with much charm-take the time to explore the different floors and rooftop views! I also can't say enough about the amazing breakfast that's included. Every day was a surprise of different juices, breads, pastries, main courses, local and international tastes and cooked to...

Great location-within walking distance of Darjani Market and Freddie Mercury’s house. The staff was attentive and helpful. The room I stayed in was huge and clean. It was 3 flights up but they help you with your luggage. They offer spa services which is done in a hotel suite. The massage I had was terrific. My only regret is I didn’t have more time there.

Staff was undoubtedly the most considerate, best trained, thoughtful and improvisational of anywhere I have ever stayed, bar none and that includes lots of Shangri-Las, Peninsulas, Four Seasons, Ritzes and so on. It's a small mostly tourist hotel but I had friendly conversations -- and unusually creative, thoughtful and staff-initiated contacts on items from meals to hallway gadgets to knowing how to light a photo of me in the dining room to walking and shopping. Also a very clean property...

Beautiful and charming place, great location with AC, WiFi and breakfast. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for a clean and good place to stay and for comfort in stonetown, i would deffinitely recommend this hotel. It is in the middle of the town yet feels like away from all that dirt and crowd. Best choice and quality. But exchange rates are very low in this hotel when compared to anywhere in zanzibar.

Breakfast was good!

Lovely hotel. Very helpful staff. This is my 2nd time in Zanzibar and 2nd time in this hotel. I would definitely stay here again. Welcome Home.

Beautiful clean and modern hotel. Right at the airport. Staff very kind and work hard. Food was delicious but some of the servers could use a little more training but they were very pleasant. Downside is they only provide 1 key card this can be an inconvenience if you’re traveling with someone who remains in the room. The key card controls the power for the room and you need it to operate the elevator. Therefore, you have to keep asking front desk to swipe their key card. Otherwise, hotel is...

It’s excellent but expensive price

located at the heart of Shangani, a walking distance from the sea front, Forodhani and Darajani. Small quaint property with a home feel, my kind of thing!

The mosquitoes were terrible. I recommend that every bed should have a net for mosquitoes/ The restaurant should have more staff with more English knowledge

Nice location with only steps to the water front, restaurants, boats to prison island and the Freddie Mercury museum. Breakfast was lovely and staff super friendly and helpful.

Loved our stay at the tempo b&b! The staff was amazing, especially the two men that helped us with our bags to the room. The dining room is right on the beach so you can have your breakfast staring out at the ocean. From our studio room, we were on the top floor and had a nearly 360 degree water view and we were right in the middle of the touristy part of town. The only confusing part is that you check in at the main Tempo Hotel - but they help you get your bags to the b&b which is maybe a two...
