"I was not expecting a code-style reception at "A Flemish Tale. To me, an in-person reception check-in is essential for a traveler overseas like me. Thankfully, I was waiting downstairs at least 2 hours before my "check-in time" at 3:00 p.m., so that I was able to meet, totally by chance, the lady in charge at the entrance. But for this, I would not have been able to get my access code. Imagine how scary it was! "

Owner couple runs this B&B and have gradually expanded it over the past 12 years to now 15 rooms. We stayed in the Superior Room type which seems try largest one and is the size of a studio with separate sitting area. Breakfast served in common area but otherwise no restaurant on-site. Biking and walking trails nearby. Highly recommended for a quiet stay near Dendermonde. "

The location is great, in a neighborhood with good restaurants and shops, but an easy walk to the square/tourist areas. We enjoyed the downstairs "honor bar", very convenient. Only a few call outs, the communication pre-check in could have been better. We were waiting the day of to learn of the check in instructions which were finally relayed in the afternoon over...

"We were in Room 1 on the backside of the house. Great location in a great neighborhood, just minutes walk from the center of the city. Nice little courtyard - would have been great if the weather was better! Inside was interesting and unique decor, yet very spacious and comfortable. Parking was a bit difficult to figure out where we could park overnight for a reasonable cost (i.e. the orange zone) - wasn't too far away, but took me quite a while to figure out where it was."
